I bought a cheap video card today until i get my new geforce 3. I bought this card fo $7 so as i can setup windows and run seti until my other card arrives. Anyways this card (AccelGraphics model# 6000478) has the notch at the bottom offset differently than the socket on the motherboard. I can't use it. I have never seen the notch on an AGP card in a different location. What is this used for?

Where did you buy this card and did it come with the box?

NO box or anything. Came from a local used parts store. I think i remember hearing that the newer boards with 2x 4x AGP slots don't allow the older AGP slot cards so a divider was placed there purposily to keep out the older cards. Anyone hear of this?

never heard of this. are you saying the agp slot on your motherboard has 3 slots? most agp cards have only two slots these that have 3, they have smaller group of pins

That's exactly, right (dependning on who the board is made by). All of the Aopen P4 boards, will only accept a 2X or 4X card. I can't imagine that any other motherboard maufacturer would do otherwise.

I'll agree too. Infact i just read that in my A++ book:) I just forgot about that=\ but now i remember hehe. Anyway i'd say you'd best go with the cheapest pci card you can find for now. Too bad you had to wast $7 to find this out though.
