View Full Version : 733EB P!!! overclock attempt
I'm trying to get a Gig out of this chip, it's a slot 1 in an Aopen AX64 board. FSB is changeable up to 150 but I don't think the voltage is adjustable. It runs like a champ at 733 but until funds get better (I'm paying the TAXMAN, *#*(%$)_)%(! IRS), I've got to work with this mediocre board and old chip. Any suggestions? Any way of doing a wire trick on a slot 1?
Thanks,
ZOhott

I'm sorry, but with 150 MHz FSB you won't get this chip to 1 GHz!! The P3 733 has 133 MHz FSB(standard) and a 5,5 multiplier.
So if you set your FSB to 150 MHz, you can only run it at 825 MHz!! Sorry, but that the way it is.
You would need at 181 MHz FSB speed to get this chip to 1 GHz, and that very difficult and probably impossible with your motherboard!
Yeah,
After posting I upped it to 822, running burn's and test as I type this. Looks like an upgrade mobo/chip. Why can't I change the voltage with the pin trick, the concept is the same, maybe I can find some other adventurous soul who has found the right contacts to block. I think with more voltage, I could go higher, or do I have a misconception. Is this chip only overclockable by FSB?
Thanks

Yes, all Intel CPU's are multiplier-locked (except for the Engeneering Sample "ES" CPU's which are only available for special hardware distributors or engeneers).
So you have to overclock only by FSB!!
