thx for the priceout!

if he isnt ocing then get the fastest clocked cpu you can.. an amd build might be a better way to go vs getting a i7 930 esp if you going to go with SLI or CF... if your getting a BD burner there is no reason for a dvd burner, since BD burners have DVD lasers for writing as well.

For a new rig I probably wouldn't start out sli 2 460s. For the money you'd be spending on 2 460s you can buy 1 480 or radeon 5870. (I'd go for the 5870 since its better performance for the dollar). Granted the 2 460s will out perform the single cards 5870 or 480 but not by much. With the one card you'd still beable to run games on max setting without a problem. Then later you can crossfire/sli the cards for better performance. In the long run this will save you money. If you get the 2 460s you wont have any upgrade paths and cost you more money in the end when you do need to upgrade.

This looks pretty decent to me, except I'd agree on getting a 470 vs 2x460 (more room to upgrade later) and I'd use the extra $100 (budget was $2100?) to get a larger SSD.

What sort of balance of gaming/rendering is he doing? If it's mainly gaming, fine. If he's doing more rendering I'd cut back the graphics card (to a single 460 or 5770 or something) and get a faster CPU and more RAM.
