whenever i over-clock my CPU through BIOS by incresing the FSB i seem to run across an error on start-up that has made me reinstall widnows XP many times.
its a amdXP 1600, so i just increased the FSB a bit and it was at XP 1700. it ran ok a couple boots but then this error started pooping up.
something like
the following file is corrupt or missing:
windows/system32/system/.... i forget the rest. it says i can try to repair it with my windows CD but that didn't help. any ideas?
Shuttle Spacewalker VIA kt266a mobo
Amd xp 1600
radeon 8500
windows XP
do you need any more info?
If you put the FSB up too high then windows will complain.
Welcome to the forums, please remember to post in the correct topic. Thanks

i went from 133 to 140, or sumthin around there, that would be too high? i read about guys going from 133 to 180. would this have to do anyhting about the CPU temp?
What kind of memory do you have and have you increase your vcore for some stability?

Did you increase the CPU core voltage?

i have 768mbs of Crucial pc2100 DDR
nope, the only thing i touched was the FSB, or at least
i think. do i have to unlock my XP to mess with the rest
of that stuff?

No, you just have increase the vcore when you start increasing the fsb. Not too much though, as your temps will start rising! Take the fsb as high as it will go with the default voltage. The start bumping.

so get some new cooling, put my VCORE up a but,
and my FSB up as high as it will go.
how do i know when HIGH is too HIGH
When your system shuts down for no reason, on doesn't boot properly. Just like mine did just a second ago. I tried 152 fsb and my system stut down. :( Why can't I just be happy w/ 1575? ;)
