running my ram at cas2 gave me about 1% more performance over cas3 in the abit bh6. with the abit be6-2 that I used to have, which had more ram timing options, cas 2-2-2 was maybe 3% faster than cas 3-3-3. if everyone that OC high ran their ram at cas 3, they wouldnt need to buy faster ram. also cas2 ram is alot pricier

well, if you are like many of the people here the goal is to get every last bit possible out of your computer, and that is what cas2 enable you to do.

oh heh I see :) guess its worth the $$$$$$ to be the top in benchmarks :)

1%?
i see much greater gains with 2-2-2/5 over 2.5-3-3/6 on the dragon+,over 100Mbps in each the FPU and ALU sandra bmarks, sometimes more.:)

The difference between cas2 & cas3 as measured by sandra 2002 is not even 1 percent. As measured by the old sandra its a different story:

old sandra fsb108
@322=347/383mb/s
@222=390/458mb/s
12-19% difference

new sandra fsb108
@322=819/798mb/s
@222=821/802mb/s
less than 1% difference

Wow my memory scores doubled with the newest sandra, but their is no longer is real difference between cas2 & cas3. Whats up with the new sandra? its suppose to be real world, not out of the world or some other world. I just don't know that I trust the new scores, and will continue to run 222 memory even though I can't get the fsb nearly as high as 322 memory will permit.

I use quake3 to benchmark, thats a real real world performance test and it got me less than 1fps more and thats in 640x480! so Ill run the ram at cas3

yea, but 2-2-2 to 3-3-3 would be a much bigger difference.

im talkin benchmarks. in real word situations theres really no difference betwen a 1ghz tbird and an athlon XP2000+.
i went from a 1.33ghz tbird to a 1.67ghz XP cause its better, the comps not noticably different. but i get much better scores and framerates(along with better framerates)
same with my radeon 32mbDDR. i got a ti200 and the games i play(CS, UT) arent all that better, except AA, i got it to have it.
every one wants to get the most out of their system, and ram at agressive timings is a way to do that.
