Just rolled this onto a test ASA to see about some features I need and I must say, holy crap Cisco completely changed a lot things. After reading some of the manual it seems it is actually for the best by a good margin and is even making the ASAs even more like a router, if not completely like one (haven't finished reading yet) going forward.

Unfortunately I have to roll it back for now as the ASA needs a RAM upgrade for this IOS, a rather extreme one to be precise so I'm doing that before I go any further but I wanted to check around some. Anyone else gotten their hands dirty in this yet? Just looking for thoughts, observations, gotchas, things like that.

For those that don't know what Im talking about you may read the release notes over here. (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa83/release/notes/asarn83.html)

Kind of a CLI nub, but I've tinkered a bit with other brands of managed switches. It just always reminds me of DOS. ;)

Just curious, is this for your CCNA or just as a refresher or ?

This is mainly to update my skills for the ASAs I support though I am in the slow starting process of getting a CCNA.

Also, ASA's are firewalls not switches ;)
