View Full Version : Adding new RAM

I would like to add 6GB of new RAM to my system. I currently have 6GB of GSkills RipJaw 2000 mhz with 9-9-9-27 timing. Unfortunately I can't seem to find this product anywhere to order 6GB more (Newegg and Amazon are both out of stock). My question is, what RAM do I add to this and what issues will I have since they may not match up? Thanks.
As a side note, I added 6GB of Patriot 1600 mhz and my computer would not reboot. I removed it and it returned to normal. Now I'm a little gun shy.

You have to change the settings so that the timmings and frequencies are appropriate for the RAM which probably means you will be slowing down one set's frequency and increasing the other set's latency. Even then you're likely to have issues.
You are always better off getting the same RAM or at least RAM of the same specs....

thanks. can you tell me why it's impossible to find 6gb 2000 mhz ripjaw RAM? Seems strange.

IDK, whats the model number? F3-16000CL9T-6GBRH ?
Youre right though, I have looked around and it is out of stock/backordered everywhere.... You might want to call Gskill and see if there is going to be a shipment going out soon or if it was discontinued for some reason...
