So I've looked at the reviews on the MSI Big Bang XPower and the Asus P6X58D Premium......I'm leaning towards the MSI Big Bang XPower.....

I want to get some input on personal experiences or pros and cons that have perhaps been overlooked in the reviews I've looked at.

What are some of the major cons associated with either of these boards if any?

Anything that stands out as better than the other?

I Like the Big Bangs voltage leads for the multimeter, make sit much more easier to take reads as well as all the accessories included with the mobo. I've also read that it is an extremely good overclocker.....

Thoughts?

If you plan on doing some crazy multi card action I would go big bang, if not (and I hate to say this, I'd go with the Asus).

The sound card is nice though. Not saying the MSI is a bad board, I'm just saying unless you plan on running a lot of video cards you might be buying more than you need.

Realistically all I'm looking to do is run a core i7 950 and overclock it to 4.2Ghz on air with a Noctua NH-D14.

I also have the ASUS Rampage III Formula Rog X58 on my radar. I know the boards are overkill in terms of features...but I want a board that will overclock extremely well with ease, no screwing around. If I can squeeze out an extra 200Mhz. with a $300 board vs a $220 board I'll do it.

I guess I should add that I'll more than likely be just running a single GPU at first, the 6970.

I just picked up the Big Bang a couple days ago, it's fantastic so far, I gotta say I'd recommend it, but I've no experience with any others. I'm running an i7 930 on it, 4.2 OC in almost no time flat.

Get the BIG BANG. I love my board which is a p55 variant and as you see by my sig it overclocks amazingly well. Except this one has even more features so definitely get that board. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130289R&cm_re=msi_big_bang-_-13-130-289R-_-Product Here it's an open box but really cheap. Open box boards are almost as good as new.

Not unless you're going subzero. Every board over $200 (and quite a few under that) will take your 950 to 4.2ghz with ease. You don't need the additional PCIe slots, and admittedly never will. No need to throw your money down the drain... unless there are accessory features that you really want. There are better things you can do with the money you save... like get better ram ;)
