One order of 3 items, one shipping charge paid. I got the tracking info that split my order 3 ways. I kind of expected the case to be shipped separately (even a small HTPC-sized case, smaller than original XBox) but to ship the video card and mobo separate seemed odd. :screwy:

I checked, the video card is coming from CA warehouse and mobo is coming from TN warehouse.

Just thought it's funny that one order had to be shipped individually. I wonder how much money Newegg lost by making separate shipment in term of extra boxes, extra materials, extra time for an employee to pack and label, etc.

Not as much money as they probably would have lost consolidating their entire inventory at one warehouse. New Egg actually has a pretty nice distribution model set up. They have one in New Jersey (I think), Tennessee, and California. The parts get to them from all over the world, mostly Asia I suspect, and they get delivered to either the east coast or the west coast. I imagine they have that one ware house in Tennessee because that is the biggest UPS hub I think.

Logistics!

Maybe it depends on how well packed the MB comes. My MB was packed well from evga, they even shipped my PSU in the same box. Only thing that came separate was the case..

Happens to me sometimes. I always figured it was because they were out of stock of the part at the closest warehouse so just shipped from the next closest warehouse.

Yup -- like the guys said, it's all about logistics. Whatever warehouse that is closest to you and in stock, is where it'll come from. ;)

They don't combine anyway, right? Free or not, they have fixed shipping on all items, don't they?

Huh? I've ordered, on a few occasional, parts that come from separate warehouses, that didn't include shipping charges - ie. it said "free shipping" on the item. ;)

For instance, if I order these items - and let's theoretically assume they will come from different warehouses, for the sake of the example.

I wouldn't pay for shipping - just the list prices, listed.

I know. What I'm saying is that shipping prices are fixed on a per-item basis. Whether it is free or $100 to ship an item, no matter what items you buy, no matter where you live, no matter where they come from, the shipping charges will always be the same.
