Right now i have an FIC AD11 motherboard, it is a good board, but it doesnt allow much for overclocking, but it does support DDR ram.

Here is my problem. I can do an even trade for an ASUS a7v133, I know that this is a better board for overclocking and an all around better board. BUT The asus board doesnt support DDR ram.....

Should I scratch the FIC board and ddr ram, for the asus board with regular sdram???

PLEASE HELP.

If you only have small amount of DDR RAM (say 128 to 256MB RAM) then going to SDR will not be too bad - there is only a small amount of RAM to replace.

But the A7V133 I think uses the KT133A chipset, whereas the AD11 uses the KT266 or KT266A.

I would stick with the DDR RAM and FIC motherboard, or get a new DDR board.

You can always overclock using the bridges...

I never saw a system running on DDR mem, but I know that my comp is pretty fast... It runs on 256MB SDRAM at 149MHz CAS2 and compares to DDR mem at default at CAS 2...
I really like this computer it rox, both of my machines do, only the Duron needs a new HDD that I propably should be getting soon...

The AD11 does not use the KT266 or KT266A chipset. It uses an AMD 761 northbridge, and a VIA 686 southbridge....so it's faster than a KT266 board, but slower than a KT266A.

IMHO, the KT133A is a better overclocking board, but the FIC would be faster at stock speeds.

Try downloading CPUFSB. It's a shareware program that will let you change the FSB while the computer is operating, even if the bios does not allow you to. You do have to find a little chip on the motherboard to make it work, and the programmer wants $13 if you keep it, but that's a small price to pay for overclocking something that you normally couldn't.

Ya stick with the Fic, the kt133a would be a step down
