Not sure how one goes about bringing up new ideas, but I'm getting a pair of these soon and was thinking about doing an article (my second one) on them. :chair:

I have no plan to "review" them per se, one, because I don't know enough about sub-zero GPU cooling to speak on it in an educated fashion, two, there really aren't any other products out there to compare them too.

I was thinking about framing the article along the lines of my "ghetto GPU cooling" article...only not so ghetto this time. I'm planning on being a lot more thorough and detailed though. Maybe a "show and tell/noobs guide" kind of thing...with a little funny mixed in.

Have we done one of these before? I saw Sno had touched on GPU stuff in one of his extreme articles.

If I do it, I plan on taking the article from box on my doorstep>installation/cardprep>DICE runs>and close it out with Ln2 runs at the party. Lot's of frosty pics. :D

Thoughts?

Sno is the Extreme Cooling CE, so you could drop a quick post in his CE thread with your idea. He must be busy with real life atm, as he hasn't been around much. But, at least the post will be in his thread for when he does have time to check in. He hasn't gotten back to me on my post in there either, but it will be there for him to see.

Sounds like a good idea to me, I would read it.

Will do. I don't want to step on anyone's toes. This will be at least a few weeks in the making. I'll post up in Sno's area for sure. Untill I hear somehting I'll pretend it's a go and take pictures and such...like I would do regardless, lol.

What I've found is that everything goes smoother (for the writer, at least) if you say "Hey! I had an idea for an article so i wrote it and here it is!" :D

Better to beg for forgiveness then ask for permission. Army phrase right there, lol.

I would have just wrote it...but I have no clue what I'm doing with cold GPUs...so I figure any input from y'all, Sno.lcn...etc., can only be to my benefit. :chair:

And thats exactly how I'm going to approach it. Same sort of "wth have I got myself into" attitude I approached my "ghetto cooling" article with.

Obviously I will take this one a lot more seriously, but I'm still gonna have fun with it. If all goes well the intention of my article is simply to show people whats available out there and how it's not that hard to do. (Hopefully things will go well.) I'll let the people learn from my mistakes. :sly:

I think thats a great approach - plenty of people interested who don't know what they are doing, and plenty of people who know what they are doing already doing it - not a whole lot designed to help the uninitiated noob take the plunge.

Deanzo wrote an article at tweaktown with 4GPUs on tek9's I believe. You may want to check that out for an example of what he did, so you can consider what you might like to do similar or different. Hey may also have guidance if you need any.

And posting in Sno's thread may or may not produce any results - he's been busy, so if you don't get any help and need it, other authors can help you, other CE's can help you, and I am available if there's anything I can help with.
