Those damned sidechains crash folding everytime you try to view them. Anyone found a fix for this?

The problem is that my friends who have been folding for me are dropping out because it looks like it crashes their comps. Can't blame them. So now I've lost two fast machines

Hey Gator, here is your chance to catch up :p

ahhh no! Get them back;) Unfortunetly there's no solution for it right now unless you get them the text only version=\
Hopefuly with the new 1.18 version coming out it will fix it but that's not for sure.

BTW it shouldn't crash their comps, only their winfah client but core65 should keep folding.

I still haven't had this happen, but I don't think I've ever caught a sidechain on my main system and the other ones don't display well using remote desktop or vnc. I think that there was an acknowledgement of this problem.
Maybe like Hitman said that they could use the text only version. It's not as pretty but at least there aren't any opengl problems associated with it.

I'd go w/ the text-only version. Its never strayed me wrong.

Fold on!

All of my systems are running the text-console mode client which seems to be immune to the sidechains, not much to look at, but at least it doesn't crash. :D

Unfortunatly, I am too mired in doing my TAXES, (IRS and Florida Intangibles), right now to really monitor the folding clients much. :eh?:

You need to move to Texas, no state income tax. So doing your taxes takes only half the time. It also helps if your wife is an accountant ;)

Core65 keeps running, but what does that actually mean???
What's the difference between it and winfah client. If you don't kill core65 and restart it by launching the client again, what would happen???

Oh, yeah, if you do start the client again without killing core65, you have 2 core65's running. Wonder what that would do. Anyone know??

I think it could corrrupt the wu and slow down progress some. Both cores will be doing the same calculations. One way to find out is to do it. ;)

Got to keep yer eyes on the ball.:) Folding On!!!  :burn:

Yes, that would work but I don't want to know THAT bad. :D  :)

running f@h as a service also works.

ok. So, what happens if I let core65 keep running but never restart the client??? It finishes the wu but never sends it in???
