Cheap Cat 5 tester, Such thing?

Is there such thing as a cheap cat 5 tester everything i look at seems to be kinda expensive........just wondering is there a little black box with one needle that points to good when the wire is good and bad when it's bad?

if I remember right from my days installing digital Nurse Call Systems in hospitals you really shouldn't skimp on your tester. the ones we were required to use were thousands of dollars and could find a bad wire when others didn't. That said most less expensive ones will probably be good enough for your applications. maybe try Grainger for one. They may have one in your price range.

That's a better price..........do you have an extra........i am not in need right at this moment but my network has been troubled with what we though might be faulty wiring........ended up a shot router was the prob.........either way let me know what you ment about "let me know if you need one"
