View Full Version : Emulation on Xbox360 for Xbox Classic Games
Found a copy of Def Jam: Fight for NY (Love it) for $2 at a store. Decided to buy it and cross my fingers on it working.
Needless to say it does not work. I've read various (and totally retarded) xbox sites, most of which the users posting don't have a proper grasp of the English language or grammar for that matter.
Having said that, does anyone know the complexities behind emulation of Xbox classic games on the 360? I know they have to be shipped with the emulation but I'm thinking some kind of 3rd party emulation.
Any insight will entitle the poster to hugs and tickles :rolleyes:

All I remember is that some games where converted to run on the 360. Not all of the original library but still quiet a large amount of games. As for 3rd party? Not sure... I don't even think there is an emulator for the PC.
Sorry I'm probably using the wrong terminolgy...wasn't talking PC.
Anyway I figure its "Either it works or it doesn't" - so sad :(

Yeah I understood what you where saying but was tossing that in there for an extra. If its not on the HDD for the X360 when you get it, or it doesn't download it when you fire it up I don't think there is a way to get it to work.

It is first party emulation but it is software emulation. Results are a mixed bag. My copy of Amped works but the fps is a little low. Amped 2 works well, and original halo and halo 2 had crashes occasionally.
wikipedia has a decent list of games Here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360_backwards_compatibility)
Def Jam does not appear to be listed though.
on xbox backwards compatibility:
According to Microsoft, each game needs an emulation profile to run. These profiles can be downloaded through the Xbox Live service or from Xbox.com and burned on CD or DVD recordable media. They are also routinely distributed as part of the content on the Official Xbox Magazine monthly discs. The profiles are downloaded as a single bundle, and hence only need to be applied once per update (if doing so offline), or are automatically downloaded the first time a compatible game is inserted.
The Xbox 360 hard disk is required to play the games on this list. The hard disk is used not only to store the emulation software, but also to store saved games, store downloaded content, and to serve as a data cache for titles which utilize disk caching. Since games for the original Xbox were designed with the expectation that a hard drive would always be available, most titles rely heavily on the presence of one.
You might try googling for a def jam emulation profile.
