Been looking around and cant find any evidence that they are releasing any of these in PCI instead of AGP ? Maybe they would release the MX range ?

Thanks in advance

nVidia pretty much stopped making PCI cards a while ago. The fastest PCI card you can get with an nVidia GPU is the GF2-MX. I don't thonk they make the MX200/400 in PCI flavor, but I could be wrong.

If all you have is PCI slots and you really want a fast card for it, try a Voodoo5- 3DFX may be defunct but the V5 is still the fastest PCI card you can get.

I know of Geforce2 MX400 PCI cards but was wondering if the Geforce4 was ever going PCI or if there was anything faster than that.

Another question. Which one of these MX400s are low profile ?

Thanks

Sorry, but what do you mean by low-profile? I've never heard that before in context with a vid card.:)

All these cards will only take up one slot, if that's what you mean.

i've got a geforce2mx 400 w/ 32 mb of DDR that's PCI.

It made a HUGE difference over my 8mb onboard crapaq video.

It was like 90 bucks but that was quite a while ago...without it there'd be no way I could play ghost recon, f1 2000, and tribes2. It used to be impossible for me to AWP in CS cuz my onboard video couldn't render fast enough, so everything was jittery, but when i got the vid card everything was smooth and crisp....so much better!

Low profile cards whether they be video or network cards are not tall in comparision to other cards. this allows them to be put in low profile cases like a flex-atx or even a micro-atx.

I already have a MX200 VisionTek but its height is , well high, and i need something that takes up half of the actual height of the bracket that gets attached to the cpu case, where it is screwed in.

to explain it further the VisionTek i have is measured
(LxWxH) 14.250 x 2.875 x 9.688

So basically i need a PCI card with a height of probably half of 9.688. I heard that the Asus V7100 Pro (MX400) is what I'm looking for. I just need more confirmation that it is smaller in height before I purchase it. Or maybe even get recommendations for other cards. I have also been looking at the PNY range but dont see any pics to confirm that there MX400 is small in height.

Thanks for any other advice

I don't know where I read it. But I DID read that they're making a GeForce4 MX420 (weakest card) since it's on SDRAM they said it won't be a problem. (aside from being weak as all get out)

so its impossible to make a ddr card in pci form? o well, not that its needed unless you have onboard video or yer agp slot is bad
