I have an Intel core 2 quad Q9550 at stock speeds. I want to overclock it to 3.4ghz per core (I'll go 3.6 later), but I am not sure if my Intel G31 board will allow it. I have also never overclocked a CPU before, so this will be a first.
From my understanding, I need to set my FSB speed to 400, up the vcore voltage by 0.05 or so, and set the ram thingy to 4-4-4-12. Besides stress/stability-testing, what other steps must I perform for a safe overclock?
