Well my GF is hellbent on a Mini-ITX system and somehow she managed to find some Mini-ITX Skt1156 Mobos that have a PCI-e x16 2.0 slot on them.

Anyway this is the system she wants...thoughts? :

First off.. Aren't YOU THE LUCKIEST GUY! If my lady came up to me and demanded I build her an ITX gaming rig... Well I don't think that will ever happen LOL.

What games will you be playing on this rig.. I think a slightly more powerful video card would be better, like a 5770 etc. I saw one in the classifieds for 95 bucks I believe! Perhaps even a low end quad for the cpu like the i5-750. I know its almost double the price of your cpu pick.. But it will extend the playability of your rig easily...

Anyway, looks like a fun build either way!

You should check the project logs section of the forums. There are several Micro ITX builds going on. Including my own build. Miahallen inspired my build with his MAX11L build, also in the build log section. Check it out!

Those are some awesome systems - the 5770 is a bit more money ... is the 5770 comparable to the 4850 or the 4870? I know the 48xx cards stay cool as ice (Which was my concern)

*edit*

She's looking to play some light games, she's taken note of interest in EVE Online/RTSs/ETC... Doesn't seem to care about FPSs though.

The HD5770 is better than the HD4850 in all specs (pixel fill, texture fill, memory bandwidth). The HD4870 has more memory bandwidth than the HD5770, but the HD5770 has better pixel/texture fill though.

What resolution will be used?

5770 beats a 4850 and looses to a 4870.
The 5xxx run even cooler for a given performance then 4xxx.

Really if she isn't doing hardcore gaming a 4850 would be fine, i would look for one with ram cooling though.

1680x1050 is the resolution, I'm just gonna give her the old 22'' LCD I got back in '07 (She's nowhere near as OCD as me when it comes to color reproduction and ghosting lol)

I built gigabyte itx motherboard paired with i3 540 and all but 1 had a motherboard failure out of 8.

The motherboards are very picky about corsair ram or I have had 4 batches of bad ram....gskill works great though.
