First you must excuse me for a noob - but beyond that, are there any software soloutions for figuring out your cpu temp.?
My motherboard is an ASUS A7V133 and my chip is a 900mghz T-Bird Socket A.
-- And if there arnt any exclusively software solutions can someone reccomend a hardware one? I dont have enough $$$ to get a new motherboard with a thermostat :-/

my cpu is senser 1 -is set to board senser via686b2 thats the cpu.
now this will change in certain mobos but i almost sure yours is this.
senser 2- via686b-1 thats case temp
senser3-via686-3 this is your north bridge
all these are in the section titled temps in mbm 5

temperatures in mbm 5? I dont see it. my temperatures read the following - 89, 116, -25 my motherboard cpu has no fan so im 'guessing' that thats the 116 one and then im guessing that the 89 is my chip... but -25?

MBM can show 3 sensors but I only get a good reading from 2 (winbond 1 and winbond 2 - P2), when I try the 3rd (winbond 3) I get nothing or some way weird number
You might need to buy or create a thermal sensor, which you then have to connect to your board, check your board manual for a connector, if there is on then either buy a thermal probe or create one with the help from virtualhideout, who have this site: http://www.virtualhideout.net/guides/thermistor/index.shtml

just a guess but I would think that the 116 is your cpu,
89 is your motherboard,
-25 is your case temp (probe probably missing)

good luck, i was running a similar setup that didn't exactly run the coolest. I never got to run much cooler than 41 idle and that was with a better cpu fan and extra case fans. T-birds just run hot...Good luck.

You could also try Asus Probe. It comes with asus motherboards.
