Hi folks,

I posted this in the general forum but maybe it should be posted here instead.

I had an issue with the system in my sig. When I hit the power button the only thing that powered up were the power supply, case fans, GPU fan. The cpu fan would start for about a second and then stop. The MB did not beep at all so I figured it might have died and ordered a Foxconn P41A-G to use until I decide what super system i want to build next. I also installed a WD Caviar Black 1TB HD.

I got the new MB installed and when I power the system up it turns on and off like someone is flipping a light switch until I turn the PSU off. Does this mean the CPU is likely dead or is it maybe another culprit? I've never had this happen before so I'm not sure.

Appreciate any input/advice! Thanks!!!

id look at you psu and ram try to test them in another machine if you can(the ram) and run mem test.the psu you can use a multimeter.

Hi Jazon!

PSU is fine (Corsair rocks!) However it looks like a stick of ram went bad. Pulled the offending stick, system boots. I then moved the good stick to the other slot; still boots. Put the bad stick in where the good one was previously and the system starts the light switch effect again. Guess I'll be buying some ram. It won't be crucial ballistix again though. That is the 2nd stick to go bad (two different systems) on me.

just send it back to crucial they like most ram company's these days have a lifetime warranty and will replace it free.
