Hello my friends. :welcome:

My system is:

CPU: intel q6600 G0
MOBO: Asus p5q pro Turbo
Memory: Geil BLACK DRAGON 1066 (2x 2GB And 2x 1GB |6GB total) Voltage on mem signature 2.2-2.4

GPU: ASUS gtx 480 (stock)
Powersuply: Tagan 600 W

CPU cooler is: SCYTHE Ninja 2 (temp in stress all CORE'S 61*c)

And good cooled case

And this is problem:

I overclock my CPU.

I spent all of my day on it and my system boot properly but every time when I turn on OCCT afrer 3 min system got BOSD and restart.
CPU temp 65/61*c

This is my bios options:

Ai overclock Tuner [Manual]
CPU Ratio Setting [08.0]
FSB Frequency [400]
PCIE Frequency [101]
FSB Strap to North Bridge [Auto]
DRAM Frequency [DDR2 - 1003MHz]
DRAM Timing Control [Manual]
5-5-5-18 (other timings AUTO)

Ai Transaction Booster [Manual]
Common Performance Level [10]
Pull-In Of CHA PH1/4 [Disabled]

CPU Voltage [1.28125]
CPU GTL Reference [0.65x]
CPU PLL Voltage [1.50] -standard
FSB Termination Voltage [1.26] - standard 1.20
DRAM Voltage [2.32] - below these 2.30 system don't boot
NB Voltage [1.36] - standard 1.10
SB Voltage [1.20] - standard 1.20
PCIE SATA Voltage [1.50] -standard

Load-Line Calibration(Vdrop) [Enabled]
CPU Spread Spectrum [Dsabled]
PCIE Spread Spectrum [Dsabled]
CPU Clock Skew [AUTO]
NB Clock Skew [AUTO]
CPU Margin Enhancment [Compatible]

I know that you are the champions of overclocking! :salute: So Please help my to get stable system.

I thing the problem is not optimized voltage. Can you help me?

Try removing the 2 x 1GB sticks of RAM, leaving only the 2 x 2GB sticks in the two yellow slots for a dual channel config. at 2.2V.

+1

also,

only 600w for a quad and a beastly gtx480 . that will yield problems, i can tell you that right off the bat!

Oh my!

It's work!!

OCCT now past mor then 12 minutes and system works fine still! temp is 62/58*c

You think I can now reduce memory timmings to 5-5-5-15 and set it to 1066? at 2.2V
leave the voltage settings as I previously set (like NBV SBV etc)?
you think the NB Voltage at 1.36 is good to 24/7 system work?

I want keep this settings up to 24/7 everything in bios is good for this?

EDIT:

OK I pass OCCT 1H test and Intel burn test. All stable.

Please tell my do I have to change to a lower voltage on my bios? like i as I wrote above?

i wouldn't settle for 62/58*c. look more around the lines of 50*c for 24/7 use.

you don't want it burning up on you! :)

Ok I lok something to redute temp.

Can you tell my something about the NB Voltage?

reduce it to default voltage? or keep 1.36? What do you think?

EDIT:

Temp on IDLE is 41*c
On STRESS MAX 70*c after 1h OCCT torture.

That;s not good?

The P45 chipset doesn't normally require as high as 1.36 vNB w/ 4GB of RAM installed and a FSB of only 400MHz. I would try lowering it to ~1.2-1.25V, and leave the vSB at the default of 1.20V.

First I wanted to thank you because you really helped me. :)
Now everything works fine.

I get a last question.

Is there any way to run my system on this fsb width the additional 2x 1GB i have dismantled?

you know why I could not get stability width the 6GB of ram?

I wanted to thank you because you really helped me. :)

The problem comes from mixing a 2 x 2GB kit w/ a 2 x 1GB kit, even though both are from the same manufacturer. You might be able to get both kits to work together by changing timings, DRAM voltage, vNB (vMCH), etc., but it's really not worth the effort for two extra GBs. If you were running your system at default clock w/ no intention of overclocking, chances are you'd have an easier time getting the modules to work together.

Hello all,

I have a similar rig to the OP and just like my games as pretty and smooth as possible.

Q6600 (Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro)
pq5 turbo mobo
8gb ram - 2 x 2gb Kingston & 2 x 2gb Nimba (or something generic from MESH)
5 5 5 5 18 timings @ 800 (Both sets have identicle numbers and voltages)
Palit 460 1gb factory OC'd to 810mhtz
(and a leadteck 9600GT for physx)
600watt PSU

I'm thinking of OC'ing the CPU etc as i7's are here and the next gen is coming as well so my q6600 will start becoming a little tired.

Assuming I could get 3ghtz+ what benchmark increases could I expect?
(I just ramped up the FSB to 300 and seem to have got to 2.7 for free! but the ram is now underclocked...)

What benefit could I expect from OC'ing the RAM? Mine is lowly DDR2800 but other ram does 1066.

Any help or opinions would be appreciated.

Ok.

at this time a would like set my cpu to 3.6 GHZ

And any time when I run intel burn test i get error.

Max CPU voltage what i set is 1.3500

You think its a good idea to Up voltage to 1.400?

What with other settings (posted in first post) its good for 3.6?

Any other Solutions for 3.6 ghz overclock?

F*& on 1.40128 voltage is stable but temps in HW monitor going to 96*C!

This is something wrong.

The CPU Cooler is scythe Mugen and case is wery good cooling.

Any solutions?
