Hi all,
I put together my second system yesterday( specs below) which included an OEM radeon 8500 which runs at 230mhz. My benchmark scores are absolutely terrible. And I am getting artifacts and all sorts of C*** during 3dmark2001! My highest 3dmark2001 score is 5302! This is horendous. Not even overclocked! My other system with my geforce3 ti200 scores around 8000 3dmark2001, and system is identical to the one with Radeon. Exept for the motherboard. But I use to use the MB in the radeon system with my geforce3 ti200 and used to score in 7000's in 3dmark2001. Can someone please help me here, I know the OEM 8500 are not as good as retail but the performance I am getting is absolutely rediculous! Any help or advice is appreciated!

it sounds to me like you dont have all the correct drivers installed. Other than that, i dont know what the problem is

I got my 8500 OEM 230/230, with stock speeds it was mid 7000's, then I upgrade for newer drivers, and got to 8K. Make sure your color not 32 bit. Then if your ram is 3.6 ns, check you volts on the GPU, and memory. My memory was 3.5, with is good, and GPU 1.6, that's OEM thing, I had to go with pencil mod, got to 1.75-1.80, then flash my BIOS, and that's it. Now I'm in 295/290 @ 9000's. let me know if you need more info. You can do it...

Thanks for you advice. My memory is 3.6ns. Scooter, can you point me in the right direction on info on doing the pencil mod? I also need to know how to test the voltages first. And where get the bios update. My driver is dated 11-29-2001, it came with the Vid card. Thanks for any help you could give me

i would get a different OS than ME, that might make a difference. be careful when you do the voltage mod with the pencil, we were doing it to my friends, and i put too much on the card, and the card wouldnt work.:( but we erased the lead, and it started working again:beer:

Whats up,
Well, I updated my drivers, modified voltages succesfully with pencil trick, and flashed card with retail BIOS. Just got 8178 on my last 3dmark2001 benchmark! Big improvement from 5082! I am now going to see how high I can Overclock above 275/275. Thanks for the help!

Hey mrsambo12, enjoy. Get good cooling, and you can be @ 9K's no problem.
