I just started crunching again to help out.I'm mainly a folder but I just added some cores for Rosetta then I thought I might be leaving some people out so I added some cores to this team as well.
Two questions.I'm running the Stock Boinc client on a Windows 7 64bit and a Windows server 2003 64bit.Which Version of Boinc should I use to optimize Seti@home and also the individual seti client if I remember? The Cpu's are an Intel Q8200S and E5400.
Another thing,in my account it asks to use my nvidia GPU yes or no?I have a 8400GS but I prefer not to use it for crunching only.If the cpu's need it a little for their work that's fine but if that option means use the gpu 100% then I should click no?

Use the stock boinc client from the seti website http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php
then add the 64 bit optimization from lunatics http://lunatics.kwsn.net/index.php?module=Downloads;sa=dlview;id=247
crunching on the gpu is optional and is selected from the lunatics optimization install panel

I run CPU-Z to determine which extension options to select in the lunatics control panel, you want to select the best instruction set that your CPU supports: http://www.cpuid.com/downloads/cpu-z/1.56-setup-en.exe

Well that optimization was very easy compared to the past ones from years ago!it also took more than half the time to complete the wu's.Cool man!
Thanks eaglescouter.

My quadcore Q8200 has some wu's that say about 18 hours to complete and one that says 213 hours! Is this normal? or will they come down?
The dual core E5400 has about 4-5 hours per wu.
both with the Intel SSE3 optimized client you linked to

Time estimates will be wholly inaccurate until your system has completed a number of units with the optimizations. Even then the estimates are excessive (especially for GPU)
