Hi,

Today I should receive my water-cooling rig frim Dangerden. The radiator I ordered is "The Heater Core" . The pump Eheim 1250. The (main) reason I am going watercool is to reduse noise - no overclocking.

Question:

Do I need to put a fan on the radiator or will it have enough heat dissipiating capacity by regular air convection. My system specs are:

Pentium III 800EB @ 800MHz - watercooled
All-in-Wonder RADEON 32MB - watercooled
Eheim 1250 (some heat)
no reservoir

Thanks!

well you could either use fans or sit there and blow on it for ultra-low noise!

I would say yes use a fan. If you want one that not loud get the 120mm Enermax Adujustable speed fan from www.sidewindercomputers.com The one they show tho is pink but you can get them in dark blue. My Fiancee has two of them on her rad and you can't even hear them.

yeh unless u are using a large resivour 2+ gallons id suggest myself 2-120mm fans. one on each side. and to me i like the 7v mod option. i already had the sunans so thats what i used.
noise? bout as loud as a healthy psu fan. its quiet.

Panaflo L1A fans are nice and quiet, and give a good amount of airflow. You can always decrease the fan speed if you need to. 120mm fans are generally pretty quiet to start with, so don't worry about noise too much.

Using my large heatercore and a Panaflo L1A, the temps would go up 2-3C when switching to 7 volts from 12 volts, so two fans at 7 volts is not a bad idea. I never tested it without the fan running, but I'd hate to try it.
That Panaflo running at 7 volts is quiter than my harddrives .... You'll love them! Use a fan shroud though, zipties are for wiring ;)
