Just curious, pending credits, once validated do they count towards the credit today or the credit when my result was first submitted. I am assuming it counts towards the credit of the day its validated, since I don't ever remember seeing historical credit numbers shifting around over time.

I have 140K estimated pending credits, I need faster wingmen! It's too bad BOINC has no good way to pair up wingmen so results finish roughly the same time over time.

AFAIK they count the day the validating server compares them to other people's results. Eventually (a few weeks) your pending units will balance out and stay pretty constant. At that point, you'll be getting a consistent number of points per day.

Typically you'll reach a peak somewhere around 10-14 days and level off in three weeks or so.

It's too bad BOINC has no good way to pair up wingmen so results finish roughly the same time over time. I'm not even sure how that could be done at all without maintaining some kind of working profile of every user, which would just add to the data base load they already have with no real return for the project. ;)

Well I wasn't being too serious, but the harebrained idea popped in because the project already maintains average turn-around times by computer (look at your host details). I was thinking it could pair up wingmen and their work units taking similar turn-around times into consideration.

Ultimately there has got to be some significant load on the DB already just because the queries for open records is returning millions of rows. Pairing up work units with computers that would finish at roughly the same time means workunits could validate/close out sooner, leaving fewer open workunits per query.

Seems like it could be a bit more efficient without too much extra overhead. There's actally a thread going on now pending credit. How old? (http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=62681#1064172) and someone just said they found a work unit from last May that just now finished.

Anyway, was just a random thought, I'm just glad SETI is stable and can get stuff done for the project at all :).

With your Pending Credits and the systems you are running I say once your RAC stabilizes you will be getting ~35k - 40k points per day. The pending credits and 'wingmen' production is pretty much why RAC is needed. It gives a general idea of how much work you do a day. FYI... feel free to PM me sometime and I will help you get those systems optimized for RAC production.
