I want to upgrade my 900mhz to a faster CPU but can't decide if I want a 1.3 ($109) or 1.4($130, I would also have to order it). Qustions:1. Can u see the difference between 1.3 and 1.4 when playing games and stuff.
2. Would I see big improvment from 900mhz to 1.3 or 1.4?
thanks

I am not much of a gamer, so I can't really say how big a difference a few hundred mhz will make- but I'd think it would be minimal. A good video card seems to be far more important an upgrade, as would more ram if you have less than 256mb.

As far as other software/ os speed: 100 more mhz won't make much difference when you are over a gig; in fact I have a 900(@1120) and a 1000@1400. When the 900 is at default there is not much difference between it and the other TBird at 1400.

I'm not saying its not different at all, mind you, just that it is a bit expensive for limited return.

You might want to think about saving the $$$ for a new mobo and an XP instead.

I don't see you having too much difference.

What Ti series do you have? If its a Ti500 then yes. Regular or Ti200, no.

Ok would there be much difference between a 1.54ghz and 900mhz? or if it was a 900mhz vs 400mhz?

When I consider upgrading a cpu I look for a truly significant improvement.
I went from a K6-2 450 to a 900 TBird: that is only 450mhz, but it doubled the raw mhz.

You have a pretty good chip right now: to get a significant increase you'll need to get an XP, imo.

That doesn't mean that a 1.3 or 1.4 won't be faster.
How about building an additional pc instead of upgrading:D

i have an 850 mhz computer, and a 1.33 tbird, and the difference is phenominal in absolutely everything i do. starts faster, loads everything faster, games run faster and smoother. if you want to get a 1.33 chip, then i say you get either the xp1500+ or the xp1600+, they are even better, for only a couple dollars, you can check out the prices on www.pricewatch.com , but yes, its a worthwhile upgrade, and i highly recommend it.

Hey, why not get an XP 1600 or 1700 with it. XP's handle DDR much better than T-birds do. And they aren't that much more expensive for a big performance jump.
