So sad that I have to go to three different vendors for simple things...

Newegg, I love you, really! You are starting to test that love though....

Perfect example http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...cm_re=usb_cable_mini_b-_-12-270-121-_-Product

I need a few of these cables for portable drives that I have. They are self powered so anything over a few feet causes issues...

4 bucks AND 2 bucks shipping per cable? Are these made out of lead? Do they require that you ship them in refrigerated containers?

~3 weeks in and I have already found a few things that need changing on my PS3, more USB ports being the main item.

Newegg... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817334015

really? It's 12.50 and you want another 4 bucks to ship it? Again, why does this require such high shipping prices?:temper:

Though for comedic value, I am tempted to order http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817334011

OH BOY MOOD LIGHTING AND USB!!!

Ok uhh wait, you dont even HAVE the drive I want? WTF?

Ok, Microcenter, you are my local fallback, how about you?

Ahh you have the drive, but a silly 5 drive limit unless I walk in and pick up extras...

I wont even link to them.. They are OOS of USB A to Mini B cables in any length under 6ft.... Oh and they want 20 bucks per cable.

Monoprice! You always do well to me!

Tada! http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10303&cs_id=1030302&p_id=5446&seq=1&format=2

just a hair over a dollar each.

ok USB hub time.

Ehh a bit high but no biggie.

Too bad, you don't sell the other items I am looking at...

Anymore, Newegg is one of the last places I am looking at. In the case of the bigger ticket items I am looking at, they are charging MORE then the vendor before shipping. Microcenter is more and more beating Newegg in HW prices and has the stuff I want in stock...

So would you say with Microcenter a person could walk in there get everything they need and come out with price "savings" similar to any online store if they were building up a pc from the ground up. Or would I still need to order certain items ie. power supply, memory or whatever online. Microcenter is a couple hours away from me so it needs to be worth my time.

I think micro center is pretty competitive, can you do it cheaper online, yes, do you have a store to walk into, no.... I bought a decent amount form micro center because after shipping, it was like 5 bucks difference, and if one of the MC pieces fails i can get it fixed TODAY not in a week.

Microcenter has been on a mission to compete with online retailers, and by in large they are pretty darn close, they do not always have as broad a selection

Depends on what you are building, what you are willing to accept/want/need.

Microcenter Memory selection is garbage for the most part.

It is hit or miss anymore with getting Microcenter to pricematch Newegg, but you still have to pay tax.

Microcenter is beating Newegg for Samsung Spintpoint F3's.
Newegg wins by having MUCH more RAM selection.

I would not argue it is amazing but this is NOT best buy terrible either: http://www.microcenter.com/search/s...4294966965+4294960217&sht=Any&prt=NewProduct&

If you needed to build a system at micro center you could and not terribly overpay, and have a walk in location, that being said I, as most of us, got ALOT of stuff online cause it was better/cheaper...

If you want the best no do not go to micro center, if you want decent, need a lil hand holding, or just want a walk in location i think you can do pretty well at MC these days...

OCZ ram ranks somewhere below pulled from a waste bin on fire for RAM use, IMO.

I know too many people that will get multiple sets of OCZ ram and each will be bad, they get a set of anything else, and magically no issues. Hell I tossed two different sets of RAM after I got fed up when I was trying to get them RMAed...

How about kingston, corsair, crucial, again im not claiming it is the best out there, and certainly the selection pales in comparison to tiger and the egg, but if i buy ram there and it fails i can have new in 30-45 minutes, itll take you 4-5 days if your lucky...

Again, if your like most of us, buy the best online, if your casual, MC is not a terrible option.
