IRQ Problems

Hey guys,

I have a computer that is having IRQ problems. I set them in the BIOS, but it doesn't reflect what msinfo32 says. Then, at random times, I'll have IRQL_... errors, blue screen. This is windows XP, and almost everything is on IRQ #9. Anyone know how to fix this?

Three possible solutions
1) Turn off ACPI in widows XP (in device manager)
2) Play around with the PCI Cards and put them in different slots
3) Turn off IRQ sharing in BIOS

turn off ACPI but still let windows manage your IRQ's. 10 years ago setting IRQ's manually was important, but nowadays you are better off letting the OS do it since that is what makes the various calls to the hadrware.

In your BIOS, you should have an option called "PNP OS" or something simular. Enable that option and it will fix the problem.
