Good day all. Well I finally did it.lol

I made the leap to intel after a decade plus of AMD.. I am helping my son build his first system.

I found some great deals here in the classified section.

So far I have:

MB-EVGA P55 FTW SLI
CPU-( thinking i5 760)
GPU-( not sure yet)
Mem 2x2gigs Mem
PSU- 650 watts
500gb HD

Any feedback on the MB or anything else is appreciated

Going to continue to keep an eye on the classified section.

Learned lesson #1 yesterday.

When being the first poster of any item for sale.

Post "DIBS" rather then PM sent.lol

Looks like some solid choices but why not go with Sandy Bridge? Personally I'm waiting for the bugs to be worked out.

Yeah, Sandybridge would be my choice too...

i5 2500k
P67 motherboard
4GB DDR3 1600Mhz CL7 ram...

What is your budget?

Would have loved to have gone P67 and Sandybridge.

However, my COH screams NO WAY.lol

So I figured this would be a great leap for a 13 year old to go from a AM2 Gigabyte GA-M57SLI to a P55. At 13, he is already editing games, writing simple programs, and of course gaming.

Thanks for the replies!

Damn. well... i5 760 is a decent leap from what he has. See if you can snag an i7 860 as that has HT and could help him out a bit down the road with horsepower.

Hey drydog...

Glad to see you were able to get your MoBo and Ram...

I'm sure your kid will enjoy the hell out of the new system.

Thanks xXSebaSXx! I'm sure he will.

LOL Had to chase his butt off the computer last night... He was researching the EVGA P55.

He is pumped.lol
