kinda promissing?

I was in the live coverage, via internet of course. Looks really amazing, a lot of innovations in just one product.

Until I get my hands on one or see some actual reviews... I thought the PSP was going to do really well to, it had amazing specs when it was released but it hasn't done that well and the GO was a flop as well. The design of the new one sure is clean, looks really slick. The two analogs should provide better control in games as well. Just wish it could make calls and I would probably ditch my iPhone...

As powerful as a ps3 in a handheld?
I'm expecting a price tag to reflect that... Though i'll probably still get it if it even comes close to it

I still think the 3DS would be much better with the 3D and games, but this does look awesome.

For the non-believers...

You'll be able to play PS1 games in that thing.
Uncharted was played in real time, didn't look like PS3 but close.
Social Network to see who's playing what around you.
2 cameras, touch screen, touchpad in the back, GPS, yes, GPS...

A lot of more things that i can't remember.

Nintendo is very hard to take on in the hand held market, its something they have done really well with, all the way back to the gameboy. Oh the days of burning out AA batteries :)

I will bite on one. Its easier to deploy with then my Gaming Laptop and actually has a battery life, will play movies and the rest of the goodies needed. My question is will it have the capability to DL games you purchase like the slim PSP? I wanted one but it was so late in the handheld generation I waited. If it does count me in.

Some questions that Sony left unanswered in their press conference

amazing!
just hope they let people jailbreak it and use pirated games, the reason ps3 sales failed is because you can't play pirated games on it, the hack was developed too late xbox took over

Imo, I think the touchpad on the back is useless and not a lot of developers will utilize it. It will just make the PSP2 cost more. For example, if I want to climb a patch of vines in Uncharted, I would just want to use the analog stick, and not making a "fingering" motion on the back of my PSP which will make it awkward when playing in public. Then 2 years later, they will probably completely scrap the touch pad and release a slimmer model, "PSP GO" version of PSP2.
Also, I wonder how the 3G service will work and if we will have to pay a monthly fee for it. As a iPhone user, I have used 3G to play online games and the response time is unbearable.
Other than that, the specs are impressive. The touchscreen looks like it will be a capacitive touch screen as oppose to a resistive touch screen that the DS uses. Additionally, I do hope the touchscreen is glass like the iPhone too.
As for the games, the list looks very promising and may be ready when the PSP2 release. Also, with COD releasing for the PSP2, it will sure bring a lot of attention to a lot of people.

Price is very important in the handheld market. Something that Nintendo has also done very well, although the 3DS is pricey >_<.

I think this thing will be priced around $300 lol.

I also imagine it will be around $299.

Am I drooling? YES!!!! :drool::drool::drool::drool::drool:

However, I'll let them sit on the market first. If these are un-hackable, I'll save my money for computer parts and continue to use my 2001 that's hacked to hell and back.

Couple of things that will determine how far over 299 it goes.

If Android is involved is this going to be phone capable? Will I be able to buy an App to play games on my Droid/S7?

Dual Cameras to serve what purpose if no phone?

3g capable, included with the cost or add on via sim card? Also, since it has 3g which of the big three is it going to?

What is the battery life like? Considering it is almost surrounded by touchpads/screens/joysticks.

Will it be able to do more then be a remote for the PS3 via remote play? PSP currently is good for pretty much just that.

The proprietary flash, can I migrate games to a single card or do I have to carry them all around like UMD's? big surprise Sony is AGAIN trying to force their own standards....

If this is capable of playing PS2 games then I'll be all over it. Otherwise I'll probably pass until it reaches sub $100.

The 3g is for GPS navigation system and Internet I assume. It's not android capable. The android thing means that Android and other phones will be able to use PlayStation Suite which can enable them to use PS1 games on it.

After the lawsuit going on right now and sony saying piracy hurt the PSP, they probably want to make a profit off selling the NGP.

$299. If it goes over that by far you can kiss its chances goodbye til it comes down in price, but by that time it might be too late. $250 would be the sweet spot IMO.

Looks very nice overall but I think it's too pricey for me. All I want is portable PS1 system so I can play my favorite RPG games like Suikoden and Wild Arms.

I really like this article it has alot of intersting points, thanks :)
Especially comparing AAA titles to Apps and how some of the best selling hand held apps are simple and from left field. It's a good reminder that eye candy shouldn't be the main selling point. It's great having all that power but game play and inovation are more important IMO.

That guys is a skeptic. I saw the live presentation and it sold me. I've never buy a handheld before, so it's magic for me, not more of the same :p

Trust me, I don't agree with the article, I just found it a good read.

I think this PSP2 or NGP or whatever is a badass little system. The only problem I have with it, is I (and more than likely, 99%* of tech people who would quickly jump on this system) already have a device with me at all times that does 95%* of what this system does. It's called an iPhone\Android. Sure, aside from gaming, it's cool that it can do all this stuff, but pretty pointless.

* My statistics are all made up on the spot to emphasize my point.

The origional PSP was pretty darn sweet for its time, the specs compared to other devices was phenomenal. I hope the NPG does better than the original PSP, because I am tired of little kiddie games on the DS :)
