i overclocked my ka-6100 slot1 p2 to a p3 500mhz , but i come to find out i was having so many problems cause the board only go's to a 450mhz. Can i
underclock my cpu? if yes what would the jumper settings be? thank you.
Since I don't know what kind of board that is, I moved this post to Intel CPUs.

The only way to underclock this thing would be to lower the FSB. it wouldn't help, as if it's your mobo that doesn't support your CPU, then it's not the Front side bus, but rather the multiplier your problem. if your board only supports up to 450MHz, it means that it runs on a 4.5x multiplier times 100MHz FSB. The P3 you installed runs on a 5 multiplier and 100MHz FSB. So underclocking it wouldn't do much I think. The best thing to do is problably to reinstall the OS. For this last sentence, wait till you get more answers, so you can choose what to do.
BTW, this should go in Intel CPUs or in Intel mobos.
ummm I suppose you mean your upgraded to a p3 500 which is a katami...you probably need a bois update...check with your motherboard manufacturer and they probably have a download on their site
