A GREAT BIG THANK YOU TO ALL WHO CONTRIBUTED DURING THE MARCH EVENT!!!!!

Event Goals
Our ultimate goal as a team is to reach 15th Place in the Total Points Standings. This event and the event goals will be instrumental in getting us there.
The Event Goals this year are threefold:
1. To reach 300,000 in team RAC. ($100 Gift Certificate)
2. To reach 15th Place in total points. ($100 Gift Certificate)
3. To beat UK BOINC Team to 15th Place. ($100 Gift Certificate)
As each of these goals are reached, the corresponding bonus prize will be unlocked and added to the prize pool!
Yep, the goals are pretty lofty, but if there's one thing I've learned about these Events, it's to never underestimate the members of overclockers.com!!!
There is only one condition! That is that our RAC does not drop below it's initial level on 18-Feb-11.
Contest FAQ
Q: What 3rd Party Service does this contest use?
A: random.org (http://www.random.org/)
Q: How will I know if my name was entered in the draw?
A: The draw will be Entrant Accessible. A link will be posted after the draw is made where the entrant can go to confirm that their identifier was entered into the draw and whether or not it won.
Q: How many draws will there be?
A: There will be one guaranteed draw every two weeks until we reach 15th place. There will be up to 3 additional draws made depending on whether or not we reach our Event Goals!
Q: Does the March Event end on March 31st?
A: NO! It goes until we reach 15th place as stated above, and there will be plenty of prizes given away until we reach that goal!

Send big man a PM.
Notification has been listed in the SETI forums (http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=669617) (via Pete) and the F@H forums (http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=669665). Hopefully we'll see some additional traction from both DC teams to assist in this Rosetta contest.

We have a few weeks before the first prize goes out, and technically till the end of the contest to donate a prize if you so choose. PM me if you're interested. Thank you.

It seems as though F@H is having issues getting march madness off the ground this year so anyone from F@H or seti for that matter who want to help us for this event are most welcome. I would suggest though, that we give proportional support when either of those teams get events organized.
Rosetta typically only has one event per year, but we recently got taunted by another team we are about to pass and they are picking up production to keep us at bay, so I'm enlisting a bit of help to show them where the bears sh*t in the buckwheat.
Once the front page announcement is up, I'll head over to their forums and throw down the gauntlet.

Oh, I wasn't aware of the March Madness issues. I'm guessing it's due to the recently heated battle between some of the top-tier teams. However, I'm getting OT here.

When do we get to start taunting them?
baditude_df
02-20-11, 11:34 PM
I'll head over there once the announcement for the contest is on the front page and throw down the gauntlet. Then hopefully they'll be motivated to take measures to make it a decent race, and we'll get some good back an forth going.
Remember everyone: The idea is to taunt them into doing more science (ie: precisely what they just did to us), and nothing more. Once they see that we've taken the bait and countered their taunt with a Team event, we should see their production increase rapidly as well.
baditude_df
02-21-11, 01:25 PM
Ok, counter taunt has been posted in their forums!

Let's see if they take the bait!
EDIT: And challenge has been accepted! Let's go get em!

We're currently 68,861 points behind and gaining on the Knights who say Ni!
Our RAC is climbing and is currently 34.8K higher than theirs, however, their RAC has been steadily climbing since the 12th of January and they show no signs of slowing, so they will be no pushover I'm sure.
This should be a good race if they decide to put the hammer down!

As it sits right now, we will pass BOINC@AUSTRALIA in 0.68 days, and The Knights who say Ni 0.28 days later, putting us in 18th place!
After that, we will need another 68 days at our current rate to pass the almost stagnant XS Team. Is it really going to take us that long???!! COME ON TEAM!!!
The Knights haven't made much in the way of gains over the past day, and I see in their forum there's alot of humming and hawing about whether or not they want to stay with Rosetta blah blah. So we may need to give up on those chumps and find another team to race. I'll give em another couple of days.
Careful, I may get the Rosetta "itch" again and sic the SR-2 on whatever team feels froggy enough to challenge us...

So there are no WU's in your buffer at all? If not, uninstall completely and reinstall. If that doesn't work, then I'm not sure what's up.

Yes I have 10 day buffer set in the preference but it seems like I can't quite get connected with the server. I have several completed WU that are stuck in upload and several WU waiting to be downloaded. I can only make one completed download every hour or so by the message tab. my other PC has hundred of WU but is also stuck on uploading and downloading new WUs.
EDIT just got 5 new WUs now. Could be internet issue.

Looking at KWSN's site and the BONIC site, it appears there are some upgrades and downtime going on.

2011-02-22: SLinCA - SERVER STATUS: Server hardware will be upgraded this week with a short interruption.
During the last weekend we determined the limits of hardware for stable server operation. Our server was stable up to processing ~20 KWUs (with some delays and faults after this value). We would like to thank you for cooperation that allowed us to find these limits. For the further stable scaling-up we will upgrade hardware during this week with a short interruption, which will be announced before this.

Yep, all seems well now.
I seems to have a bit of problem getting WUs. I got only 2 in use and none available. Transfer tab shows many pending download, all backed off for another hour. :/Similar situation here. I got home and switched from SETI to Rosetta to help with the contest. I got some Rosetta WUs and before I had even wound down the buffered SETI WUs (I'm at default settings for that) the last Rosetta WU was processing. When I got down to one idle core, I opened the gate for SETI again to keep everyone busy. Since then some more Rosetta WUs have arrived and I'm winding down the SETI WUs. Rosetta was down for maintenance most of the afternoon and evening yesterday but they seem to be back up and the WUs are flowing.
Edit: Doh! Guess I'm a little behind the conversation!

Just switched my athlon x2 3800+ for an opty 170 @ 2.6, and switch the old opty 14x to the athlon x2 chip.. i should see a few hundred more rac before i level out :)
So how about an update.. seems this isn't being taken so seriously by the forums.. is there another contest we're interfering with? Seems when the folding forum wars take place we get half the distributed community to assist! Guess their prizes are better :p
Anyways.. enough griping.. I'm doing my part!
If my math is right.. we're not getting into 17 anytime soon..

RL takes priority over Rosetta updates, work is busy.
No body dropped the ball, the front page announcements and front page announcements just haven't been posted yet. I'll get an update on the publishing tonight, but they should be up soon.
What's happening right now is the core team memebers and standbys are getting an early start to the "March" Event. Even though the official start date was the 21st, it always takes at least a few weeks to get things going. Have patience.
Our Team RAC has already risen substantially, and since this is going to be a rather long event, the sky's the limit.
I'll be announcing the first draw winner on march 7th, as that will be 2 weeks after the official start date.

Again team, congratulations on pulling in to 18th place! BOINC@AUSTRALIA and The Knights who say Ni! are in our rearview.
Overtake Stats are as follows:
Days Pos. Team
60.36 16 XtremeSystems
161.11 17 Team 2ch
201.16 13 Free-DC
As you can see, our ultimate goal is ~201 days away at our current rate of speed. Obviously with some more help, we'll get there alot quicker.
Although they are almost 10MIL points ahead of us, the current 16th place team (XtremeSystems) will be the first victim, as thier RAC is almost non existant. This will put us in 17th place.
The current 17th place team (Team 2ch) will be the next victim to fall placing us in the 16th position. Although their RAC is currently only ~17K less than ours, we are only 4MIL points behind them.
The last team to fall, will be the current 13th place team (Free-DC ) which will put us at our goal of 15th Place. Their RAC is only ~19K, but they are sitting ~20MIL points ahead of us.
Keep up the great work team, and remember to pass the word on to anyone you think might be able to help out.
The front page announcement should be up soon, and hopefully an admin will help us our with a forum wide anouncement as well.

@ wayward.. so far that opty has been blowing up the rac.. still consistently rising.. i have it at 2.6 and got that w/o a hitch.. unfortunately my athlon x2 is now running @ stock since its in a gateway.. maybe ill have to find a way to get ntune on there or something, but its running mint now
If anyone has a system they don't want to run due to power issues, you can lend it this way.. I shoulda got a 2nd x58 system instead of buyin all this 939 junk :p

Congrats to you, PolRoger! I hope there are some more B3 1155 boards available for when I get in from the rig in a week. Then I will put that 2600k I bought from you to use trying to catch you. :D
Bring it on!!! Mudd :)........ Yes 2600K's make for easy 4.5/4.6 daily "crunchers".
BTW... just so that it is not too easy for you... I fired up an idled i7 920 and brought it back online today to give my RAC a little nudge.

Okay, I'm going to throw out a challenge of my own, and one that will be funded by myself.
I would like to point out that I currently have the #1 AMD single-physical-core processor on the entire project (my 1090T @ 4.0 ghz 24/7). I would further like to point out that I have the #1 AMD single-physical-core QUAD-CORE processor on the entire project (my 740BE running as a quad core @ 3.6ghz 24/7). This is in terms of raw RAC, not total points accumulated.
My two rigs are both numero freaking UNO in their respective classes.
I challenge all of you to do better!
I will provide a $50 gift certificate to the online retailer of the winner's choice (with the caveat that IT MUST BE AN ONLINE RETAILER DEALING IN COMPUTER HARDWARE, IE Newegg, CrazyPC, Pitlabs, XoXide, TigerDirect, etc.) to the FIRST OCF Rosetta member that can beat me/edge me out in RAC in terms of Best Overall Single-Physical-Processor AMD chip (will probably end up being a hex, I don't see any quads doing this kind of damage) and also in terms of Best Overall AMD Single-Physical-Quad-Core on the Rosetta project.
To give more clarity, if you have an AMD hex core that can get more RAC than my 1090T, I'll give you a $50 gift card to the online retailer of your choice, under the regulations that I outlined above. All you have to do is get higher on the Rosetta Top Computers ranking than my 1090T and you win the gift card. Furthermore, if you have an AMD single-physical quad core (a 955BE, a 970BE, an X3 unlocked to a quad, etc.) that beats my own unlocked 740BE in RAC then you will also win a $50 gift card to the online retailer of your choice, also bound by the aforementioned regulations of this challenge.
In order to collect your prize, you must post back to this thread WITH A SCREENSHOT OF YOUR AMD COMPUTER OUTRANKING MINE IN ONE (OR BOTH) OF THE TWO ALLOTTED CATEGORIES. It would behoove you to capture your screenshot ASAP, because we all know that RAC has its ups and downs. If you can't provide a screenshot showing your user name and my user name on the Rosetta Top Computers chart with your AMD rig beating my AMD rig in the appropriate category in terms of RAC, then no gift card for you.
Further caveats: This challenge is open ONLY as long as the March 2011 Rosetta Event is taking place. This challenge is ONLY open to AMD members' rigs running AMD processors. It is true that this challenge is expected to last for several months, so my personal challenge is open for as long as the March 2011 event runs. If nobody claims either of my two prizes in that time, and the OCF March 2011 event ends, then this personal challenge of mine will be nullified at the same time the OCF March 2011 even ends.
Keep in mind that my challenge is still open even if I experience an extended power outage and you don't. If this event is still going on in October 2011 and nobody has claimed a prize from me, and I have to evacuate for a hurricane and my rigs are both down for three weeks and my RAC falls and one of you beats me out in the respective classes, then you'll still earn your prize... provided you can submit a screenshot as proof.
There it is. Challenge submitted. Gauntlet thrown down. There's money on the line, folks.
Let's do some science!
:comp:
EDIT: Keep in mind that when I keep making reference to "single-physical-processors" I really mean single physical processors running on a motherboard capable of running only one processor. There are plenty of AMD rigs on the project that beat my top rig out in RAC, but they're all Opteron server systems with multiple physical processors on motherboards capable of supporting multiple physical processors, IE 2 or 4 physical procs with anywhere from 8 to 24 logical cores. For the terms of my challenge, these setups DO NOT COUNT!! My challenge is only open to setups running a motherboard running a SINGLE PHYSICAL PROCESSOR.
EDIT x2: To keep everyone honest, including myself, I will accept screenshots submitted by other people who aren't even in the running. IE, if someone notices that Psionic98's 1100T is higher on the RAC chart than my 1090T, then they should post the screenshot in THIS THREAD and I will honor it. Keep in mind that the prize will still go to Psionic98 in this hypothetical example. This will allow the best chance of the prize going to the rightful winner even if the owner of the winning chip isn't near his computer and online at the time that his processor beats out my processor. Someone else can still take a screenshot and submit it in this thread, and the owner of the OCF processor that beats mine will get the gift card.
I'll switch over the SR-2 when I get home on Friday ;)

This just in (for those of you that haven't seen the front page announcement yet)!
The Generous folks at Biostar (http://www.biostar.com.tw/), by way of our good friend and forum moderator splat (http://www.overclockers.com/forums/member.php?u=15957), have seen fit to donate
two of their latest series AMD and Intel motherboards to the cause!
In order to give these puppies away we'll be holding an additional contest throughout the month of March!
This contest will follow the same structure as the RAC Harvest, and therefore be points based.
Each contestant will receive 1 entry into the draw per required amount of points crunched.
The required points per entry will be based on RAC (Recent Average Credit) and categorized per the table below.
RAC <1000 - 3,000 pts per entry
RAC 1000-3000 - 5,000 pts per entry
RAC 3000-5000 - 7,000 pts per entry
RAC 5000-7500 - 10,000 pts per entry
RAC >7500 - 12,500 pts per entry
Total points and RAC for each contestant have already been recorded, and will be recorded again at midnight of the 31st. After which, points will be tallied and entries made per RAC category then randomized by a third party.
Draws will be made on the 1st of April, and entry confirmation will be provided.
For details on these two excellent motherboards, head over to the front page announcement HERE! (http://www.overclockers.com/overclockerscom-rosetta-team-contest-march-2011/)

Well if anyone wants to meet my personal challenge, now's the time. We had a severe electrical storm Saturday morning and both rigs have been stalling or failing work unit after work unit ever since. They're currently both down while I'm running Prime95 to check my hardware. I've lost 800 RAC in 48 hours. :(

I have had quite a few on 3 out of 4 machine with either errors or not started and aborted. Can't figure out why....
Wayward_Son
03-07-11, 07:03 PM
I can't, either, Penguin. I don't know if it's related to the lightning we had Saturday morning but suddenly both machines started failing/stalling work units.
I ran Prime95 on both of them when I left for work this morning. My main rig, my 1090T, passed 12 hours and 1 minute with zero errors. My backup 740 machine errored out on core 3 at nearly 8 hours into Prime. I've backed off the RAM speed from 1648 down to 13-something and I'm re-running Prime. Hopefully it will make a 12 hour run by the time I leave for work tomorrow.
If Both machines are 12+ Prime95 stable, then I have to conclude that my hardware is good and that I'm suddenly getting a bunch of crappy work units from Rosetta. I'm thinking about aborting the entire five-day stockpile on both machines and downloading a new set of work units.

My machine has been sitting idle for the last few days. Realtemp reports my core temperatures at 25-30degC, whereas at full load they should be reading 65-70degC at this room temperature. Rosetta says the WU's are running, but my RAC is dropping like a rock.
Not sure exactly what's causing this, but instead of resetting the project and clearing my cache, I just did a full reinstall and things seem to be back to normal. We'll see how things go when I get enough WU's downloaded to load this CPU to 100%.
EDIT: HOLY CRAP! These modules eat RAM like crazy!
I'll switch over the SR-2 when I get home on Friday ;)
So I wasn't able to get to the rig this weekend due to...er.....heh :o so um ya.

I've had that happen to me a couple of times where it wiped out the whole Rosetta listing from BOINC. Usually though if I do get a blue screen or a screen lockup/freeze then after rebooting everything will come back up fine. I also sometimes get thread errors if my o.c. isn't dialed in enough.

Wayward_Son on both OCF and Rosetta.
Man, my main rig passed 12 hours of Prime95 Blend and it's still failing/stalling work units. I'm going to start it running Small FTTs next.
My backup 740BE rig also passed 12 hours of Prime and it's also still failing/stalling work unites. It is currently running Small FTTs.
Man, this is pissing me off. I'm down over 1300 RAC since Saturday morning. I'll still award the gift certificates to the OCF user who can meet my personal challenge, but this it *NOT* how I expected it to happen. I wanted to challenge people to beat the RAC of my 1090T rig (which was at ~4350 on Saturday) and the RAC of my 740BE rig (which was at ~2900 on Saturday). I wanted them to do more science than my two computers. Now it looks like they'll win my challenge but not by doing more science, which is what my challenge was supposed to stimulate.
And today my car got keyed at work.
Looks like I'm getting some bad karma right now. Son of a....

Yep, know what ya mean. The loop on my 980X keeps it running in the low 50's to high 40's on the hottest cores at 4.0. :D
And I came home this morning from the rig and found 2 systems not running Rossie due to reboot issues from a power fluctuation. :( I now have both machines back online and crunching. And I'm still waiting to get a P67 board for my 2600k. I almost ordered that $175 MSI board from the egg this morning, but I would rather a board that has 2 ps2 ports so that it can play nice with my kvm switch. I'm hoping the Asus P8P67 Pro or P8P67 EVO arrives soon at the egg.
BTW W_S, it's a good thing I'm an honest person or I could get that $50 gift certificate from you. I won't post it on the open forums, but if you want, PM me and I will tell you how someone can spoof the system with BOINC on RAC and processor.

I cant afford custom loops atm, plus the upkeep seems to be more intricate compared to remove hsf, blow out dust, wash off, dry, reapply tim, reseat :p
the cooler in general has been great, just very odd that I get some random 124 BSOD (hardware conflict?)
Hope i didn't screw it down too tight.. guess I'll be checking pins tomorrow!
and W_S is it passing memtest for long periods? I would think that the rosetta crunching is dealing with floating point integers etc which if your ram isn't right will surely throw off an invalid point from time to time?

i have been failing a couple units a day recent;y, but by the sounds of it a few people have so they might have just sent out some bad units. also 1 thing i found strange is that my loop doesn't get super low temps but the higher i push my OC the less temp increase. compared to air. but on a low oc the temps weren't any better than my d14

Since the Knights who Say Ni! have welshed and completely cut back on their Rosetta production after making their initial taunt in our forums, I think we have our new victim!

I found my RAC still rising, slowly, at 4-5 weeks.
Well, both rigs pass 12+ hours of Prime95 Blend. I ran the backup 740BE rig for 12+ hours of Prime Small FTTs and it passed with zero errors or warnings. I then shut it off this morning. It's the first time it's actually been turned off since I brought it up about six weeks ago.
My main rig, the 1090T, just passed 23 hours and 15 minutes of Small FTTs with zero errors or warnings.
Folks, I have to believe my hardware is just fine. I don't know what in the bloody hell is causing both rigs to stall or error out on 75%+ of their Rosetta work units. It all started at the same time on both machines, Saturday morning after a huge electrical storm. I was thinking that maybe they somehow got a does of EMP or static or something, but I just don't see how it could be hardware related when both of them have passed twelve-hour tests of both Blend and Small FTTs. The only other Prime95 Test for both machines is In-Place, and maybe MemTest. I just don't understand this. I am completely confused. I've been running them at these speeds for a long time and suddenly they can barely complete a Rosetta work unit? I'm stupified.
Would I have any luck uninstalling and reinstalling BOINC on both rigs?
Both machines just had complete Windows reinstalls, I really don't want to go through that again.

Currently, it only runs when I don't touch the keyboard or mouse, is there a way to make it just run all out regardless if I am using my computer? Wayward, did you get your issues figured out??
No. I'm terribly frustrated with all of this. I can't believe this is happening in the middle of a contest.
To reiterate, both machines have passed multiple 12+ hour runs of both the Blend and the Small FTTs tests of Prime95 without errors or warnings on any core. Both machines have been turned off for 12+ hours at a time. Both have had Spybot and MSE scans run, with nothing malignant coming up on either one. On both machines I have aborted all tasks and downloaded completely new tasks, several times.
Nothing is working. Both rigs can barely pass a work unit. I don't know what to do. Today I plan on uninstalling and reinstalling BOINC on both machines to see if that gets me anywhere.
Does anyone have any advice for me? I don't know what else to do.

Did you try to reset to stock clocks and let them run a few units?
Try a boinc reinstall if that doesn't work then I would try a windows reinstall. Kind of a lot of work but it would hopefully get you going...
Wayward_Son

First on my list is a BOINC reinstall. If that doesn't work I'll try stock clocks.
I REALLY hate doing Windows reinstalls, Furthermore, I shouldn't have to. The backup 740BE rig just came online less than two months ago and of course got a new copy of Win7 Pro x64. That install is less than two months old, and it NOTHING installed on it except for Spybot, MSE, Firefox and BOINC. That's it. Four programs. My main 1090T rig got upgraded around the same time with an OCZ Vertex II SSD, and the rig got a complete format/reinstall at that time with Win7 Pro x64 on the SSD. The old 320gb WD Caviar got formatted and installed as a backup drive. On both machines, the Windows installs are less than two months old.
I just don't get it. We need a smiley of a little face pulling his hair out in frustration. :(

I'm having big issues too. I'm at stock clocks, I've reset, detached and reloaded BOINC. Rosetta will run overnight at 100% load on my CPU and then when I wake up in the morning, I'll be at 5-10% load and RealTemp Recording temperatures of ~25degC.
Max temp recorded through the night was 68degC, which doesn't seem to be enough to kick the processor into a low power state or initiate thermal shutdown.
Regardless, I can't help but think that these symptoms are caused by heat, and this IS the first time I've tried to crunch on a quad with a stock cooler.
I'll see what happens when my new cooler arrives.

Just added my girlfriends laptop, I believe its a 2.0ish dual core processor. I will have another laptop up and running shortly, its a 2.4ghz pentium lol old school I know.
So that will be 3 laptops that I should have folding most of the time and then my desktop rig will be up 100% of the time =D.
Anyone have any idea what kinda numbers I will be seeing with a stock sandy bridge 2600k system?

Lots of the newer live cds have older wireless drivers. I found that Mint had preloaded a set for my old linksys card.. it may have even been B42... anyways, even though its livecd you can still sudo apt-get and use binding etc to use windows drivers if you can get them on a flash drive.
baltitude and wayward_son - I am wondering if your issues could be related to a rise in ambient temps. As spring is approaching, temps are obviously slowly rising. I have one of my machines in the garage (typically less than 50F), and one in my unheated study - typically less than 70F. During a recent spike in outside temps these temps went up to 68 and 82 and both machines had errors, though they did not crash, I throttled them back to maintain mobo and core temps that were similar to what they were when the ambient temps were lower, and they ran slower but without errors - just my $0.02

No problem here at the moment. Got my old Athlon X2 3800+ overclocked about 20% and it's just running along w/out difficulty.
I've added an older Thinkpad and netbook. If there's a prize for least credits for most processors I should be a contender. I've also snuck into wife's laptop and have it crunching at about 80% All machines are getting work and happily crunching away.

I wish the issue were that simple, but unfortunately no. Although spring is coming, and temperatures are rising, there hasn't been a large enough jump yet. I've tried a variety of things including leaving the window open overnight which brought my ambient room temperture down to ~17degC. The same issue still occurred, regardless.
Touch wood, I've been crunching steady for two days and my RAC has come up ~100Pts. Here's hoping it stays that way.

Well I think I may have gotten my situation licked. It looks like it was as simple as detaching from the project and reattaching to it. I had already tried aborting all my work units and downloading new ones, twice, and that didn't work, but I tried this latest fix yesterday and so far it looks like it might have worked. I'd hate to say everything is fixed before a few more days pass. On my main rig, when I woke up this morning there was only one stalled work unit. I aborted it and refreshed, and when I got home just now (about 14 hours later) there were zero stalled units and all cores were crunching at 100%. On the backup rig I tried the same thing first thing this morning and when I got home it also had zero stalled units and all four cores were crunching at 100%.
I'm cautiously optimistic at this point, and if anyone else is having problems similar to what I've experienced I would advise detaching from the project and reattaching to it to try and fix it.
With that being said, if we're only 800 points away from 2nd place in RAC, then with both my rigs running at full potential we should be there in no time.

Right now I have the bclock up to 106 and no problems so far. This bodes well for people who don't want to shell out the extra bucks for an unlocked proc to get a bit more out of their system.

Two, neither has any OCing abilities at all, a dell mini9 and an old Sharp AMD64 laptop (that thing is incredible, best build quality ever). I benched both though and got some cups with the AMD box :D

Ok so I got this months electric bill in and it looks like my main rig might need to take a break.. meaning I'll be dropping off the charts down to the 1k area.. it's been fun, but it's either give this up or give up some traveling with the kids for vacation.. kids win this round
Apparently it's not good when your winter bill is nearly the same as your summer when you have the AC's on a lot.
Ok so I got this months electric bill in and it looks like my main rig might need to take a break....That's too bad. At the moment we're only 1650 RAC behind the Czech national team. But the kids vacation is more important. You can never make that up.

Oh no doubt.. I would have rather taken my 939s off it, but I know this system is pulling a lot more juice than they are.

That's debatable, a couple 939s would match a mid range overclock on a 920 for power draw and not produce nearly as much RAC.

I have an s939 (Athlon 64 x2 3800+) and an AM3 (Phenom II x4 820.) Both are overclocked and both draw similar power - about 150 Watts IIRC - and the Phenom turns out about 4x the RAC.
Edit: The Phenom system uses the on board video. A honkin' video card would probably make a big difference in power usage.

Well, I have the 1090 up and running now. I think I will just let it get a running start before I really start OCing it.
So that's:
1090T Stock
i3-550 @ 3.84
E6400 @ Stock
Pent. D 915 @ 3.7
Athlon 64 x2 3800+ @ 2.4
Those will be running 24/7 till the wifey says the light bill is to high....lol

I agree that if I had both systems oc'd upwards of 2.7 I'd be pulling some wattage, but 1 is oc'd and the other is pure stock. Likely my i7 @ 4 is pulling more.

So! Quite a bit has happened since the last update.
For starters, our second place ranking was quickly stolen back by Czech National Team who made a quick surge on the 21st. However, we've handily closed the gap again, and now are back within 450 points of that rank.
Also, much like Splat hit up our friends at Biostar, our fearless leader I.M.O.G. has managed to secure some swag from Newegg.com and we will now be making a weekly draw for a newegg.com prize pack, along with our biweekly draws for newegg gift certificates! Let's hear it for I.M.O.G.! The first draw will be made tonight!
As you can see by the numbers above, we are making very good progress! We are about to top 200K team RAC, and we just passed the 80 Million Point mark!
At our current rate we will need 20.75 days to pass XtremeSystems for 17th place, and 24.47 days to pass Team 2ch.
Keep it up Team!

What the last guy said. We'd be happy to have you.
Just head over to the Sign Up Thread HERE (http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=669587). It will have the link to Download BOINC Manager. Install, choose Rosetta@home as your project, choose a BOINC Username and use overclockers.com as your team. Once you're up and running, come back to the signup thread and register with any users that just created an account and are actively crunching for the team.
Welcome! :welcome:

No worries about slowing the team down. Any results you complete will contribute to the team. (And will help keep your home warm on those cold Alaska nights.)
In addition, the various DC projects are vary compute intensive and will provide additional stress testing for your OC. For the two systems I have recently overclocked, one could not run optimized SETI tasks and the other could not run Rosetta even though they were both Prime95 stable. (Both took some additional tweaking to be stable with those.) IMO it's good to try several DC projects to provide extended stress testing. But start with Rosetta please until the end of the contest. :D

Well if you'd like to contribute to our team, then you'll have to join the team "Overclockers.com".
To join the team follow these steps:
Go to the Rosetta@Home project site and login here (http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/login_form.php)
Once logged in, your browser should be directed to the "Your Account" page
Scroll down to the "Community" section and click the link that says "Find Team"
Type in "Overclocker.com" in the search and it should turn up
Now join the team
Not sure if those are exact as I am already joined, but I am pretty sure thats what it is. As far as putting out your number like that, people can use it to register accounts using your number (happened to my friend), not a huge deal but really annoying if they start calling your number 5 times a day trying to sell you something. It can also be used to find where you live, but I am sure you could handle any potential intruders :D

ugh i got a huge virus today, didnt fold for like 3 hours :(
I hit tenth place in RAC on our team last night. But I'm back to 11th this morning. I see that there are four members between 4553.27 and 4585.76. I suppose we could be trading places just depending on who has updated recently unless one of us is climbing faster (or slower.)
I laugh about the RAC I get from my two Atom systems, one of which is only in the double digits. Without them I'd be ... in the same place. :p Without them I wouldn't be on the edge of passing three other members.
OTOH, if each of the 106 active members could muster an additional 132 RAC we would catch the Russian team.

My lowest rac box is having some stability issues. I shut it down until I can get in there and clean out the cobwebs.....
I also might be doing some LN2 benching this weekend, so rac may drop due to that.
Almost maxed out my 955 on rac now. Will take a hit for the weekend.

It will take me a while after work to compile the entries, as we now have 47 eligable contestants for the Big draw which is quite a bit more than our previous contests.

http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/6364/teamstatusupdateapr1.png (http://img59.imageshack.us/i/teamstatusupdateapr1.png/)
These are the numbers used for today's draws and represent everyone's progress up to the cutoff on March 31st.
Currently there are 48 contestants in the March event who account for 87.39% of our team's current total RAC of 194,921. Impressive!
The contestants in green are those with RAC sufficient enough (>500) to be eligible for our weekly and biweekly prize draws. Those contestants in light yellow are those who have already won a prize and are no longer eligable for the weekly and bi-weekly draws, but were entered into the draw for the motherboards. Those in light orange still do not have sufficient enough RAC to be entered into the weekly and biweekly draws. I would really like to see the number of orange contestants decrease dramatically and get everyone into the drawing pool, so give it all you've got. Maintaining a RAC of 500 is quite easy, and should be possible on all but the very oldest of systems.

Actually, it will be a while before my rac goes up. I had one side of a duplex receptacle do a Chernobyl while I was out at work so my daughter had to take down 1 system to run the AC in the computer room. Running 2 1366 systems, 1 1156 system, 1 1155 system and a Core 2 Quad really outputs some serious heat and amperage draw, hence the room AC. When I get in I have to buy another duplex receptacle and change out the bad one. I think I will go with an industrial quality one this time (and a 20 amp rated one), since that circuit is loaded all the time.

Well, we've had our big draw and the winners have been announced! I'd like once more to thank our friends at Biostar (http://www.biostar.com.tw/) for their generous donation of two of their latest series motherboards. I'd also like to thank splat for getting in touch with Biostar and securing those for us!
We've also held the latest biweekly draw and announced the winner!
I'd like to once again thank our generous member sponsors drshivas, Jmtyra, molnarc and Pete Church for helping to fund those draws and facilitating the prize delivery.
Last but certainly not least, I'd like to thank our friends at Newegg.com (http://www.newegg.com/) for providing us with some kickass swag, and to fearless leader I.M.O.G for securing said swag. Pretty awesome! The latest weekly draw for a newegg prize pack was also made today and the winner announced with the rest.
As for our progress as a team, we are still hovering just below 200K in team RAC which has managed to keep us in 2nd place overall for the last week or so. I'm very happy with this, but 1st place is very close and I know from experience that we have the potential to go much higher!
Our total points are now past 81 million and about to pass the 82 million point mark.
At our current rate we will need 14.01 days to pass XtremeSystems for 17th place, and 17.71 days to pass Team 2ch for 16th place. 15th place is still a ways away at 118.67 days, but that gap will close quick as our team RAC increases so get at it!!!
Great job so far Team!
