Hi everyone,

it's been 2 days since im trying to overclock my cpu, without luck.
I hope it is in the right section of the forum, if it's not, feel free to move it.

Here are my spec :

Mobo : D975XBX2
CPU : E6600
RAM : 2 x 1024mb and 2 x 2048 mb PC6400 (both 5-5-5-15)
Video card : MSI N460 GTX Twin Frozr 2
PSU : 600W
Cooling : Ultra U12-40602 X-Wind 120mm CPU Cooler, with another 120mm and 2 80mm fans attached to the case

The E6600 runs at stock 2400mhz and my ram 800mhz.

First try : Set ram to 533 mhz to match the 266mhz FSB (1:1) then put FSB to 300. Sucess ! Prime95 is stable after a couple of hours and temp doesn't go higher than 55c.

Second try : Set the Fsb to 320mhz, now the nightmare starts... blank screen ! Have to change the cmos jumper position to go in maintenance mode and change it back to previous settings. Then reboot with cmos jumper in initial position.

Was stable at fsb 300mhz with these voltage :

Memory : 1.84
VCore : 1.325
FSB : 1.25
MCH/ICH : 1.525

I have been able to boot at fsb 333 with 1:1 (fsb/ram), but blue screen right when I start prime 95. Lowered voltage a bit, booted with fsb 320, prime 95 get a fatal error after 5min and temp reach 60c.

He are the max voltage I used :

Memory : 2.08
VCore : 1.425
fsb : 1.325
MCH/ICH : 1625

Tried between these and the initial voltage without success. Was a very annoying adventure because 90% of the time it when blank screen and I had to change de cmos jumper position everytime.

As I said in title im new to this, I have read a lot but I really do not understand what im doing wrong !!! Everyone seems to have an easy time overclocking the e6600 to 3000mhz but I can't get pass the 2700mhz... and I lowered ram to 375 from 400mhz with 4:5 (fsb/ram).

Any ideas what im doing wrong !?

Thanks
