Boinc is telling me "reached daily quota of 2 results". What is this about?

According to what I see when I google "reached daily quota of 2 results" BOINC will do that if your system reports work units that are incomplete or in error. Have you looked at your results on the Rosetta site?

How do I check that?

How do I check that?this is how I do it on Linux.

1) Open the "Your account" web page. From "Simple View" click on the yellow 'B' icon near the bottom. From "Advanced View" select Rosetta and scroll down on the right to click on the "Your account" button.

2) On the web page that opens, click on the "View" link by "Computers"

3) click on the number link in the "Results" column.

4) Now you can see all of your assigned work units and their results. Explore the "Task ID" and "Work Unit ID" links for further information.

That gets you the view from the viewpoint of Boinc.

Another view is to got advanced view and click on the "Messages" tab. When I do that, I usually "copy all messages" and paste into my favorite editor to make searching easier. You'd probably want to search for 'warn' and 'err' and just generally scan for any indication of difficulty. This shows you what's goig on on your local PC.

HTH,
hank

Stock E8400. No Oc how can I get so many errors?

Stock E8400. No Oc how can I get so many errors?New? Old? Having any other problems?

Do you monitor CPU temp? On an older machine the CPU cooler can accumulate an incredible amount of dust. Likewise other internal components.

If old I'd start by opening the case and clean out any dust. (Search for cautions about static when using a vacuum on a PC or get some canned air.) Maybe consider reapplicatation of heatsink thermal compound. I had to do that recently with a couple laptops before I could transcode DVDs.

If new, I'd install something to monitor temps and perhaps CPU speed and see where you're at when idling. If that looks good, install Prime95 and run the stress test.

Let us know what you find with all of this.

I sit at about 44C under load. Ive ran Prime for over 24 hours and Memtest for the same. I only get to visit this Pc every 2 weeks. Everything seems fine when i am here. It acts up when I am away.

Sounds good. Have you checked the Windows system log to see if it gives any hint to of trouble?

Can you post the URL to your account page so we can see what the errors look like?

Does someone use it when you're not there? When you return to it, does it seem to be OK?

It looks like everything is going well.

I scanned back through all of the work units and this is what I saw:
- lots of WUs for you to process, so it looks like they're flowing normally.
- some "client errors" that are in fact not a problem with your system. An example is: http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/workunit.php?wuid=377758777. You can see that your wing man also had the same error. This is a boinc problem and I'm seeing those on all of my crunchers.
- a crapload of aborted work units. I don't know what that's about but I presume that they result from some action on your part.
- The very first WU in the list had a compute error and was completed by your wingman. If there were a lot of those I wold be concerned. I wouldn't lose too much sleep over one.

Is there something else here that I'm not seeing? I would have expected a little higher RAC, but that takes time.

I made it back to this 8400 again and it seems happy now. I would have expected more RAC out of it also. It only has a very mild OC at 3.25. Maybe it will start to pick up.

My E8200 did ~500RAC at stock clocks, yours should be good for ~1000 I'd say.

My E6400 stock has been hovering around 500RAC....

So I should be happy with 832Rac?

Out of a dual core penryn? Yes, and it's probably still climbing?

Up to 893Rac on 8400.
