I was wondering if there is anyone lined up to do a review of this tablet yet? We just ordered one to test at work. It is going to be a little while before we get it due to back order but I am thinking the wait will be worth it.

No one to date. Can you find a way to relate it to performance computing? Our core focus isn't necessarily geared toward tablets, but it wouldn't hurt to have a write-up on it for sure. You should try SetFSB to see if you can overclock it though. :D

Hmmm I will have to see what I can swing. It does have an i5 and Win7 on it. Could treat it just like any other video card and run the regular benchmarks on it to see where it stacks up.
It might be interesting to see what sort of performance sacrifice there is for the small form factor, I suppose.

We got the Slate in last week. My boss had it over the weekend so I did not get to play around with it. I was wanting to get the go ahead on writing up a review/bench type article. Don't wanna write one if ya'll are gonna use it. :p Let me know what you think!

Personally, I'd love to see a review, but Coreyoliseffect already knew that. :D

I'd love to see a review as well if we're taking a tally.

No but encouragement for me helps. :P Looks like I will need to start taking some pics and such. I might try to take it home over this upcoming weekend.

Here is a nice benchmark for smart phones, it works on tablets to, I use it to check my OC on my XOOM, available from the market (free)

Keep in mind the Eee Slate runs Windows 7, so the standard PC suite should run fine on it.

Aye, Lean is correct. That os one of the reasons that I thought that this would be interesting.
The good news is that I will have the Slate with me tomorrow so I will get the chance to play around with it. At this point I must admit that I am pleased with its performance. Though the full gambit yet remains.:fight:

I have begun typing up the review of the Slate. I hope to have it finished some time this weekend. Just have to get myself to sit down and type it all out. I have plenty of pictures to accompany my words. :attn:

Can't wait to see it. There's no dedicated graphics processor, right? Just the i5? I'm curious how hot it gets under load...do you have any way to measure temperature (other than subjectively, of course)?
Also, unrelated to OCing...I'm curious how well the "Ink to Math" function works in OneNote 2010 (is that included?). As an engineering student, I'd love to use this for taking notes, but 90% of what I'm writing is equations (with subscripts, superscripts, integrals, d/dt's, etc). I'd like them to be recognized as proper equations, but I don't want to stop after each line and correct a ton of handwriting recognition mistakes. Any chance you could play with that?

Correct from my understanding it is just the i5 processor that does graphics.
I don't have a good way to measure temps other than just software. I will touch on the temp in the review however.
I will have to take a look and see if OneNote is included. If not I can grab the trial I would think and give it a try. I have been looking for a way to take notes on it anyway as we had a meeting the other day and I had to use Windows Journal. It wasn't the best solution but it did work.
As a side note. I don't really want to get into software that is included with the device as I want to focus on the overall performance of the hardware. However, if you have something that you want tested let me know and I will see what I can do. I have a section for functionality in the review as I feel that it is important to know if the Slate lives up to its claims.

Afraid that it isn't for the better. I have a class that is getting ready to end and have been focusing on that. The good news is that I did get to download OneNote and have been using it so I will include it in the review.
On another note we went ahead and ordered two more Slates for around the office. That should tell you a little something. I haven't seen anywhere that they aren't on back order. Amazon has even raised the price of the 64GB SSD version by ~$300.
I will write this review if it is the last thing that I do. :snipe:

Yeah, I've noticed...hopefully that means they're super popular and catching on! I'd love to see more options in this space! Good to hear about OneNote too.
