By the time your chip levels out you will be 1500-2000 ahead of me.
I crunched the majority of my 2.4Mil with a 950 @4-4.2GHz.

Awesome. :cool: I haven't looked at those stats in a couple months. Glad to see we're still top dogs for these chips! GO OCF! And it is cool that we're holding steady as well. Slow Fast and Steady wins the race!

On another note, I've had to dial back both OC's a hair. I got a bluescreen once every two-three weeks on the i970, and now with my B3 Gigabyte P67 replacement. Even with the OC dialed back, my RAC hasn't noticeable changed. It reminds me that the RAC gained by pushing the envelope on megahertz can be wiped out by a few hours of downtime.

And checking my systems on the top computers page (http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/top_hosts.php), my hex is holding at #4 position and my 2600k is kicking some serious butt and holding at #13 on the whole project.:rock: And looking at the ones ahead of it; they are all either hex cores or dual (or quad) processor systems. So my Sandy Bridge is the top quad core processor on the whole project, kicking ass on all the rest. :D

Makes me anxious to sell my 875k system to buy another 2600k to put that Biostar board I won in the contest to work.

So the 2600k @ 4.5 is good for around 5300RAC? Or did that number stabilize higher?
I'm thinking it would go higher over time since my POS i7-930 that can only run 3.96Ghz gets roughly 5000 even.

basically I posted all this since I'm wondering if there is a cheaper upgrade option from where I'm at now.

It had gotten over 5600 rac before I switched most of the farm over for the F@H chimp challenge to help our fellow brothers out with their contest. My systems are slowly getting back to where they were at before the chimp challenge.

That's more inline with what I was hoping. I wish there was some sort of list of CPU performance for Rosetta, but it would be really difficult since you'd need at least a month or so per CPU @ whatever clock speed to make the table. And that's not withstanding Rosetta's normal "tides" where overall RAC shifts for everyone due to the jobs being processed. Plus the usual holiday server crash, validation nukage, etc.

And my SB and hex core systems are still trying to recover their rac from the time I took off from Rosetta to help the folding guys out on their chimp challenge race. Just a few days of full time F@H processing instead of Rosetta knocked the hell out of my rac.:rain:

drshivas, I don't think you will have to worry about me for a while. Last month's electric bill bit me in the butt pretty bad, so I am shutting down some crunchers to try to lighten the electric bill some.:(
