View Full Version : Didja ever have to say "I'm a dumb***"?

Sometimes I'm not very bright. Okay... maybe more than sometimes.

I've been wondering for a couple of months how I can possibly push my little farm higher and higher while still keeping everything alive and crunching. The idea had never occured to me that I could actually just work on one machine over a period instead of juggling 4 or 5, playing with everything at once. ("Geez, this guy is a frickin' moron.")

I finally smartened up tonight. Well, maybe came to a bit of common sense, anyway. Decided that the couple of free days I have available this week will be dedicated to the 1333. Not a bad start tonight. 1628 (11x148) with Sandra scores of 4510/2238, and only at 34C. And hasn't died yet. :) But this is the range where I've been having trouble POSTing (1600-1700).

Isn't it amazing how "unstupid" you can become with a little Maiden on the PC. :D

My theory is: If it ain't broken, I must not be done working on it!

And yeah, I just broke the 120mm fan that was letting me run the new cruncher @1660! Now its hot (45c), and only 1600. DOH!

Dont feel bad my T-bird maxes just above1.6, and I did everything I could to get that (new memory, new drive...all the stops) but it sure does run cool... LOL on air even muahahahaha Good luck! Jim :burn:

If you haven't ordered more yet, check out the Cyber Deals section. A couple of posts in there have cheap 120s. I ordered 10 of the $3 variety. Gotta find somewhere to put them all. :D

New PSU yet? :) Mine's on a cheap 400W. It hasn't crapped out at this speed *yet*. I'm thinking with a volt mod I could get 1700 or more. That's future work, though. Gotta wait until it breaks at this speed first.

GF, how are you cooling that 1.333 @ 1628 to keep it at
34c?

On all my AMD chips as soon as I apply a load mine all shoot up
to about 44c Air or about 40c water!

Lonely Raven, what chip are you using? An XP 1500+?

I have two 1700+, one on a KR7A and one I *just* got this
Sunday on an XP333. Then I have a 1.333 T-Bird on an
IWILL KK266+.

I understand the thermisistors can be off, but all 3 of them
read about the same...so I'm thinking they are close enough
to accurate...

cool, I am running my 1500 + @ 1450mhz and see temps 35-40 C
when the room is 74-85 F.

If you had a Xp I thought your temps were pretty high.

Air, duct, and quite cool ambient. It only has that Dr Thermal HSF. Using total negative air flow with a big duct over the CPU. I only get the cool temps with cool ambient (current 16 ambient / 33 CPU). Normal ambient brings me up to about where you are. I'm looking into water, though. The summer temps will be too much for a couple of these machines (and my ears can't take any more Deltas! :D).

Yeah, that's my issue now too. I've actually been leaving the
windows open a crack to get the room temps down some,
but this summer is going to kill some of them.

Not to mention I'm kinda weirded out by the fact that my
apartment sounds like a hord of locusts with all the Delta's going!

sitting in my 35 degree australian summer
with my 46 degree case and 53 degree cpu
with a 7000rpm cpu fan 4m from my bed

I use to have a saying in my sig

" If you havent crashed it, apparently you havent pushed it!"

I think that says it all.
