i just bought a dv6k from my dad and i know how bad thos kind was since i had one and got screwed by hp cause of there recall for items and when mine decided to take a crap.The gpu on it is running at a stable 80C which i flashed the bios to newest one and now it dropped to 70C now its more stable then it was but im using a linux based os and i was wondering if anyone knew of any tools or a way to under clock this gpu on these laptops to make them from not de-soldering the gpu off the mobo.the gpu on it is a nvidia go6150 which i have nvclock but cant get it to work just gives out error so im looking for anothe one peferably with a gui any advice thanks in advanced been googling for about 3 days and cant find a fix for this.

I wrote up a guide for overclocking GPUs a while back for Windows Vista. The directions should work for XP and Windows 7 as well, but I haven't tried it. I'm pretty sure you can underclock the GPU using the the procedure.
