I've never heard of that yet! Is this a bad WU or does one come around every so often amongst all the 3hr. ones. If it's a good one then I'll of course finish it properly. Thanks for any help.

Sometimes these get stuck. If its not progressing you can always abort it.

Also check task manager. If its not at 100%, and there's a Rosetta process with zero cpu, then its most likely stuck.

OK, I was just worried that BOINC would ban me for that. It shall be aborted then as it's not going anywhere anyways and still going up in time but not %.
Ya, 0% CPU usage on one instance. It shall be aborted. Thanks much!

I've been aborting WU's quite a bit lately.
For example, I came home from work today to find my quad core only 25% loaded.
3 WU's had become stuck and were sitting at 12,13 and 14hrs.
I originally started having this issue a few months ago when I built this new machine, then I was fine for a month or so, and now it's happening again. Just a bad batch of WU's I guess, there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it.
I've had some odd ones as well. Ordinarily mine finish in about 3 hours. Several have taken about twice as long, but they still finish. But then the credit granted comes out at about 1/10 the credit claimed. Ordinarily this machine gets about half the claimed credit. It's a double whammy on that account. But at least they finish. And they only affect one of the systems in my farm. I guess science is not always predictable.

Well, I have my suspicions that it has something to do with this processor. I never once had this issue with my Q9550 or i7-950, not on one single WU.
Also, not everyone is having the same issues, which is what you would expect as we're all drawing from the same batches of WU's.
I really don't know what else I can do with this machine: it's sitting at stock clocks with an excellent cooler on the CPU and RAM usage rarely tops 3GB at 100% load.
I have had no wu hang this week, but all my rigs get wu's that take 7 - 8 hours to finish. I wonder if my old "Global" preference file at Rosetta from years ago, is causing that somehow.
Really need to go back and delete it, perhaps.

You could always fold with it.;):p::D Seriously though, my i7-930 has been rock steady for the last year folding and now I remember asking the same question last Nov., I guess it's the nature of the beast. I'm certainly not qualified to make any judgements here but getting one per week for two weeks worth of crunching certainly begs the question.
Seems like some DC apps have inherent issues. Oh well, I'm moving on just like with f@h issues, watch them like little kids.:)
