Hey I am new to these forums but tonight i will be ordering a 1800+ which i plan on unlocking and overclocking. I was wondering what the best OS for me would be.

any cpu over 400MHz can safely run any OS out there with no problem, as long as you have a sufficient amount of RAM...so take your pick :)
I like WinXP
and welcome to the forums!!
I'd say if you've got 256 megs of ram or more, Go with XP. If you have less then 256 megs of ram go with Win 2K. From my own experiences Win 2K is faster and uses far less sysem resources then XP. But that's just my experience. Other's may tell you different. Really with anyone of those two you can't go wrong. XP will give you a little more compatibility though.
Windows 2000 Professional. Its faster and not as bloated with questionable "features" as XP, and doesn't become a BloatWare OS like 98/ME.
Its my OS of choice. It goes on all the boxes I build.

windows 2000 all the way...fast and there are so few compatiably issues while XP has compatiably issues galore...
Get windows 2000 for an error free OS
Get windows XP for compatiably problems
