View Full Version : GF3 issues on ASUS Mobo
I've just swapped from a kyro2 to an ASUS GF3 Ti200. As soon as i install the drivers and the pc restarts itself , it goes so far then freezes with a tiny red flashing square topleft of screen. On reset, it will get to desktop, but says there is issues with agp drivers and max res is 640*480. The mobo is ASUS also.
By the way the card works fine on a different machine.
Anybody heard of issues with set up?

Did you completely remove the old vid card drivers? Not sure what chipset your mobo has... but if it's a via you may want to try reinstalling the 4 in 1s... might just want to uninstall all drivers possible then reinstall.
I did a complete Hdd format and a clean win98se install. The mobo chipset is Intel815EP. I've a horrible feeling it may be power related.

Wanna post your complete sys specs? Processor, vid card, sound card, mem, power supply, etc...
I can't see the rating of the power supply unit, but i've a new case with a 300W psu in it that i'll probably build my bits into tomorrow. I'll let you know how that goes. What i'm running now is P3700MHz, 256Mb, Hercules Kyro2, terratec 1024 soundcard,AOpen DVD drive and CDRW. This system runs fine(except the kyro has issues with too many games, hence the upgrade attempt) Thx for trying to help with this problem.

Thank God it is not just me! I got a VisionTek GF3 Ti200 recently (heh, $115 after rebate) and I have not been able to get it work properly on my TUSL2-C.
I previously had a RadeonLE. With the Radeon in the computer, I uninstalled the drivers for it in add/remove programs, then I removed the Radeon from device manager. I also downloaded the latest nVidia and VisionTek Shut down, put in the GF3 and let windows boot. Recognize new hardware, found the drivers I had extracted to a directory, all seemed well.
When I rebooted, it went to right before showing the desktop, then I got that damnable green square with flashing red cursor inside it. I messed with it for an hour, but this has been the most rediculous Vid Card install ever. I was holding off on installing XP til my new HDD but I may just have to do a format now anyway, so...if anyone knows the solution, plz post it ASAP!
I'm running a cusl2-c and gf3 ti200 from vision tek with zero problems, I would look closely at the psu, the recomended for the visiontek is 300w.

okey-dokey. Yes, my PSU is less than 300W (it is an Intel system too...) but if it needs a bigger PSU, then how come it displays at all? I cn get 640*480*16 colors fine. Does it really take more power to get higher resolutions/colors?
I'm sorry there are others with problems, but also glad it's not just me. Anyway, a new case with a 300W supply seems to have sorted it (the old PSU was230W) and oh sweet lord this card rocks. A few niggling issues left, windows not properly shutting down, dvd player doesn't always eject when asked but i expect i can sort that. Wolfenstein runs like a demon with all settings maxed out. It seems this is quite a power hungry card. (But it did come with some awesome Joe 90 3D specs which i've not got working yet)
glad to here you got it fixed
