Anyone ever sit down and ponder all the overclocks they've performed over the years? Forget the number of chips I've gone through. I just found it interesting remembering some of the really old OC's I'd obtained...mostly on accident. "Oh, it let's me set it higher than rated? Hmmm. This can't be good. Well, it works. Let's see how it plays...."
And without further ado...
Intel 286 16 MHz. Mmmm. Passive cooling!
Intel 386 25 MHz, "turbo" @ 33 MHz.
Intel 486 33 MHz overclocked to 40 MHz, 20 vs 33 MHz FSB.
Intel 486 50 MHz overclocked to 66 MHz, 33 vs 25 MHz FSB.
Intel 486 DX2 66 MHz overclocked to 75 MHz, 25 vs 33 MHz FSB.
Intel 486 DX4 100 MHz, overclocked to 120 MHz, 33*3 vs 30*4 FSB*Multi.
Intel 486 DX4 120 MHz, overclocked to 133 MHz, 30*4 vs 33*4 FSB*Multi.
AMD Am5x86 133 MHz, wouldn't overclock. Fried it putting it in incorrectly. Smallest CPU housing for a chip I've owned.
Intel Pentium 100 MHz overclocked to 120 MHz.
Intel Pentium 120 MHz overclocked to 166 MHz, 30*4 vs 33*5 FSB*Multi.
Intel Pentium 150 MHz, wouldn't overclock (locked).
AMD K6 200 MHz, barely overclocked to 220 MHz.
Intel Pentium 233 MHz, overclocked to 266 MHz.
AMD K6-2 300 MHz, no stable overclock -- first chip I purchased.
AMD K6-2 350 MHz, overclocked to 450 MHz.
AMD K6-2 500 MHz, wouldn't overclock.
AMD K6-2 550 MHz, wouldn't overclock.
Intel Pentium III 933 MHz, Gateway, pre-built, no OC options.
AMD Athlon XP 1900+ 1.6 GHz (Palomino), burned up at 2.1 GHz.
AMD Duron 900 MHz, temporary that ran at 1.2 GHz.
AMD Athlon XP 1700+ 1.467 GHz (Thoroughbred-B), overclocked to 2.4 GHz. This thing was a beast.
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2.0 GHz, overclocked to 2.4 GHz.
AMD Phenom II X2 555BE 3.1 GHz, never overclocked, mobo limited to 2 cores.
AMD Phenom II X4 965BE 3.4 GHZ, overclocked to 4.0 GHz.
I replaced the stock fan on every chip after the K6-2 350. The 1900+ was the first chip I purchased a custom heatsink for. 965BE was my first wc'ing experience and I honestly don't feel like it counts for much. It was as easy as any air cooling I've used.
I've also been pondering my history of GPU's... perhaps another post.
