This might seem stupid, and I'm sure you get asked this quite often, but is F@H v2.15 automatic? Will it automatically report my wu's as they finish and download the next session? And just what exactly is a protein? In otherwords, does anyone really know just exactly what our puters are doing? Well, anyways, I've currently got 3 rigs foldin, cummulative of 2.6 ghz cruchin tough!
Every little bit counts. Thanx in advance

The difference between genius and stupidity- genius has it's limits!!! :D :D :D &

Yes it is automatic. If you are using dialup I would suggest you upgrade to Beta ver. 2.19 that can be found here. (http://folding.stanford.edu/beta/) . Just remember that there is a bug in version 2.19 to fix it turn it off after you have run it at least once then delete core65. It will automatically download a new core and will be fine. 2.19 fixes a serious bug that prevented some WU's from being deleted after being transmited to stanford. Good luck and Fold on..

Edit: As to what we are folding go here. (http://folding.stanford.edu/) . It is stanfords oficial page.

It will automatically report the wu's. The client will also count your work, but that is usually inaccurate. The scoring/reporting is kept up to date on the Stanford servers. http://folding.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/teampage?q=32 to see yours and the teams progress.

As for the rest. The best answers to that question are probably in the write up/faq at Stanfords site as well as Ed's write up on the main OC site.

Here are a couple of links

Kendan. This thing about deleting the core 65 in 2.19. will that fix the not sending finished WUs prob. I like the 2.19 console but can't get the units sent upon completion. I did some computations of the time stamps and it appears to me that 2.19 folds faster. Can someone successfully running 2.19 confim that for me? Thanks.

I got a computed time of 4.28 min/frame for a GNRA Hairpin on a duron 1.2@1350. That's very close to a minute faster than 2.15 (see my sig).

This was the problem that we saw last night. It didn't seem that we were successful. Here's a thread that shows everything that was tried http://forums.overclockers.ws/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=68586

It should. The problem last night was similar exept he was not able to download a new core. I am guessing that it had to do with his queue being full but that is only a guess. I will try out 2.19 this weekend. and post some results. If you want start a thread and list the proteins and times and cpu speed and 2.19 and ask for similar except for diff. ver. It would be an interasting thread. Don't forget you have to exit the program to delete core65. Fold on!!!

My first rig is chompin on proteinAg29aNat, has anyone done this one yet? It's taking forever! I started it last night @ about 10pm, now @ 6:25pm the next day, I've only completed 44 out of 100. My other rig is a really slow p2 266 non oced workin on ABeta17-42, it's been running for about 15 minutes and already has 2 out of 100 complete. Both are running version 2.15.

I read you Kendan and thanks for the response. You too Ploaf. I cleared my sending prob by going back to a lower version (2.15 & 2.17). I am going to reinstall 2.19 on one machine and see if I can get it to send using as many of the tips I've seen so far. I don't understand the command line thing so I won't be putting it to a test just yet. As to starting a thread. I don't feel comfortable doing that yet because too many people are complaining and I don't want to cause a mad rush to test and possibly lose some more production from the team. That's why I am asking someone who has his 2.19 up and running to give me some feedback. Actually the whole idea may be premature seeing that the teams productions suffering. It's hard to tell whether there is a problem or whether some guys have just slowed down. I should know by morning if My situation is improving. I'll only take 1 machine back to 2.19. Trying to say to much. Smoke coming out of ears. The KISS rule would serve me good right now. Folding On.:D

If you really want to make Vijay's day you could go into the Folding Science (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/folding-science/) Yahoo group and ask him all sorts of technical questions about the projects and molecular biology. :) I think that there are only about 40 or so messages in that group since it's not all that popular.

After reading some of the info in these links, I doubt I could ask him anything that wouldn't just be a waste of his time. I find this all very fascinating and glad I could be a part of something of this magnitude, but I think I'll just stick to yakin w/ yall here and keep these poor old puters crunchin a fold! ;)
