Hi All, fairly new on here :)

From NZ, summertime here now so thank god its not cold anymore.

Anyhow, after upgrading my HS on my CPU, i've decided I want to up the RAM. My system as follows:

AMD 1090T
ASUS M4A88TDM-EVO
Sapphire 6850 HD
Kingston 4G CL8 kit (http://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?p=525327)

Question - Im using 2/4 RAM slots, and I was wondering If I could get CL9 RAM?

Currently im running my system @ CL8, as the RAM was designed to. I would prefer to buy another 2 4G sticks @ CL8.

Can I buy a decent 1600mhz CL9 RAM(might be cheaper) and OC that to CL8?

Which one of these do you think I should get?

Thanks alot! :D

You can clock the cl9 ram to the same timings BUT it may not perform quite the same. In general there is no reason to have more than 4GB of ram right now. Are you doing anything that actually requires the extra memory? A few things to consider are that adding 4 sticks instead of 2 strains the IMC and may limit stability/overclocking also.

Best chips are in LoVo and T1 series. All other are so random that some 1600 9-9-9 kits are almost not overclocking and won't run @8-8-8 ( matter of luck ). I haven't been testing blu series but grey were making up to ~1700 9-9-9 or 1600 8-9-8 so nothing special ( maybe just bad luck to chips, hard to say ).
