hello,

i'm looking into doing a major upgrade soon and saw these Corsair Vengeance kits.
i found two kits; one's 1600mhz C8, while the other is 1600mhz C9, both are 2x4GB.

the former is $20 more expensive, and i was just wondering. are these two kits using identical chips, just one kit has relatively tighter timings than the other one?
would i be a fool in buying the C8 kit? lol

thanks =)

I would guess that they do indeed have the same rams on them. But the more expensive ones are binned better. I have the gskill ripjaws x with the 8-8-8 timings and they will run 7-8-7 but need a little more voltage to make it. they can be had at newegg for $65 shipped, and that to me is worth paying 15 more for knowing they will go the extra

yeahh, i was just thinking, if they're the exact same chips, the 9-9-9-24 kit should perform as well as the 8-8-8-24 kit. but i'll just pay the extra $20 for the 8-8-8-24 kit just to make sure i get the timings i want :thup:

The real world difference will not be noticed but for $20 might as well get the one with the better timing.
