We need more chat and banter in this group. It is getting boring coming here and seeing no new topics or posts. What can we do? Are there any up coming events? Milestones? Help me out for ideas.

Ya those bigger milestones seem to take forever to reach

I just put a 1055T online this weekend so I should get a nice push towards my next milestone.

I managed to fix my stability issue of random restarts, looks like it was the power supply. Picked up a an AX750. Since I'm no longer trying to figure out why my computer is randomly restarting, I can overclock my CPU again. That will be a nice little bump in RAC for the team.
As far as milestones go, I'm still a ways off from hitting 3 million, but pretty close to making it to the top 10, at least until jr1 catches up to me.

I think there's plenty that can be done to make this group more interesting. Anyone want to take over as team captain? I've always been too busy to do it, and just seem to have less and less time for it.

I never suggested that Baditude step down. There are plenty of us here to chat and banter with. Just seemed like no one was posting here anymore.

Its not very active here because the Boinc client is maintenance free...If we could have them make it buggier, we could post more!:D
Congrats to the new Founder, and Thanks to Bad's for services rendered!:beer:

My Pleasure! It's been a good ride, but time for someone new.

Well, my RAC has dropped ~400pts which is ~16%. Our Team RAC went from ~107K to 90K which is ~16%. Coincidence?
My issues have been due to stalling WU's and having to abort a lot of them. Not sure what everyone else's issues are.

I had to shut down a quad, but it has since been replaced with a hex core.

I have 1 system pulled from crunching right now (heatsink test system) and it looks like my 2500k system lost connectivity a couple of days ago. Plus, I was fighting problems with Rosetta thrashing my hard drive on my main system for a while and since I left for the rig Friday it looks like it isn't getting many points either. In all I'm down over 10k rac right now myself. And if I keep having problems with Rosetta I'll move on to some other project. It's hard to keep everything crunching when your at work on the rig sometimes.

I put my 3930K on here at stock speeds just to see what it would do and im not that impressed it looks lok about 5K a day. But win 7 updates and restarts computer everyday so got to fix that and oc it and se what it does then.

Now that it's cooler, I've had 2 systems on for a couple of weeks now.

Work and getting the house ready for the upcoming baby has been draining the life out of me! Have construction going in the house this week so everything is covered to avoid dust inside my rigs but they should be done remodeling the bathroom this week and will have all my machines crunching full time during the winter/spring season.
I've had to shut down my Thinkpad as the fan is shot. It contributed a hefty chunk to my RAC. Maybe if I get a new fan for it I'll start crunching again on it.
On my main box, I've dropped it to three cores. I did that because I've been using it for other stuff like S/W dev and taking one of those free courses at Stanford. The Stanford course uses Flash for videos so I wanted to free up a core for that. I also went back to the standard clock. Operation was deteriorating with the overclock. Sound went out again and I could not apply the previous fix (increasing CPU-NB voltage) as maxing it out did not fix. I'm not confident that my bargain MSI board is suitable for a 24x7 OC so it's back to stock speed.
The one bright spot is that my NAS which runs a D525 Atom is still going strong. It also gets a benefit in that it gets awarded almost double the points it claims for work units. Even though the points claimed are in the single digits, they add up. At the moment, 2 cores/4 threads on the Atom are generating 425 RAC while 3 cores on the Phenom II are at 1554. Power usage for the Atom is way lower so on a RAC/watt basis it is way ahead of the more powerful system. I know if I were going to put in a farm, it would be a stack of these Atom based boards. I'd put a drive on one of them and net boot/home the rest. Of course I'd need to evaluate AMD's latest low power offerings to see if they do any better. But with the Intel board at $85 at the moment it would be hard to beat. Of course I'd also have to do a cost comparison on a more powerful system, but I have a feeling that ~400 RAC for less than 50 watts is going to be hard to beat.
My s939 system could also produce RAC in the three digit range but remains shutdown until there is a need to bring out the big guns.
looks like it did help to comment that ppl cut back on the crunching
now i see a couple more ppl ahead of me that is supposed to be ;-))

On my way to 1 mill..
Are there any events coming up for Rosie? I have a little extra I could afford to commit.
Any Team overtakes we are looking at?

We've got two coming right up as a matter of fact. We should be passing BOINC Synergy and SETI.Germany for 14th and 13th place respectively:

By the Way, who the heck is Solar?
http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/3347/solari.png
Team Page says he(she?) joined the team today, but BOINC Stats says RAC has been building RAC like crazy at least for the last few weeks. Since the Total points is over 7Mil, I can only assume he started crunching again(with a vengeance) after a bit of a hiatus?

Solar has been hanging out with 1 or 2 computers in the top 20 Rac of Rosetta with Muddoctor and me for a while. I have never talked to him/her but I welcome anyone bringing that kind of Rac to our team. I only noticed because he/she has a 3930K like me.
BANTER
so um... boincstats just rolled out a new site design http://boincstats.com/en
boincstats is a good 2nd opinion on stats http://stats.free-dc.org/stats.php?page=team&proj=rah&team=230
everyone should set their work buffer to at least 6 days?
okay, I'm out of banter :(
