Well I went out and bought some 220 grit sandpaper
I couldn't find sandpaper for wet sanding ( Strange) 220 was the finest they had OK so is it possible to Lap with just one piece of 220 grit dry sand paper? Would it be ok to put water on it anyways?

i would say the minimum grad for lapping is 600. You would need to find silicon carbide sandpapaper, it's water proof and that's the type they ussally have for fine paper.
Here's a good thread on lapping.

Start out with a 400 grit then move to 600, 800 then for the wet sanding start with 1000 then go to 1500. Do circle or figure 8 patterns.

really, i never thought to check. I go to the local HW store and they only have up to 600 grit. I thought I might have to go to a car store for 1000 or 1500. Thanks for the info.
