Ok currently running this
q9550 @4GHZ
6gb ram
gtx285

I am looking to upgrade to either SB or willing to give AMD a shot

this sums up my day to day usage

I play SilkRoad Online and run 6 clients of the game
each client consumes about 500 mb
i need about 5 gigs for this stuff alone(with my add on scripts and programs)

I maintain a good amount of tabs open in my chrome 10+ usually
utorrent, aim ,mumble, teamviewer, winamp, are up 24/7 along with the silkroad clients

I have my 52 inch tv connected to my pc
and im usually watching a movie or tv shows on a day to day basis

i like to play other games at the same along with my 24/7 stuff mainly fps some rpgs skyrim etc etc

that pretty much sums up my day to day pc usage heres what im debating on really

either an 8120 over @ microcenter for 200
or
2500k -180
2400k - 150
2125k - 120
2100k - 100

that will be paired with 16gb of ram and im going to hold on to my gtx 285 for now

not sure what to go with on this one i would like to start ordering pieces asap

keep in mind I will be sending this build to family back in my country once ivy comes out hence why i am willing to give amd a shot
all in all I honestly just need more ram atm

any input would be great thnx

Well a 2600k is going to beat out the 6 core FX chips on pretty much anything.
For $40 Id go with an Intel setup. OC to 4.5ghz and enjoy.

Intel
From MC:
2600K -$279.99
MSI Z68A-G43
(G3) LGA 1155 Z68 ATX -$114.99 AMIR

From NewEgg:
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB 2133 -$119.99
CM Hyper 212 EVO -$33.99

Total $548.96

AMD
From MC:
AMD FX-8120 -$199.99
MSI 990FXA-GD65
AM3+ 990FX ATX -$149.99 AMIR

From NewEgg:
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB 2133 -$119.99
CM Hyper 212 EVO -$33.99

Total $503.96

To be perfectly honest, there's no reason to go with AMD right now as they don't even offer a price advantage. I'd personally go with an 2500k.

Me, I don't need to upgrade for a while so I think Piledriver will come and go before I upgrade next. I'll go with whatevers better value at the time and things may change in the future, however Intel's the way to go right now.

i5 2500k is the best bang for buck.. in my opinion a i7 2600k would be an overkill for gaming, not unless your gonna do some rendering or wanna have a good PPD on folding..
