I recently started making chainmail and while sitting at my computer coiling wire I looked up and thought suddenly I bet that noone has made chainmail armor for a computer
right now I am working on some other projects but after I finish them perhaps I could make a very unusual cosmetic mod
I am thinking that I should use green anodized links

what do you think

It would be very original, I'll give it that. :D

Sounds sweet.

That'd look really cool. The only problem I can see is that it may make it kind of a pain to take off case covers and stuff. Otherwise it seems like a great idea.

If it replaces the side covers, it might improve airflow...

Plus lights inside the case would shine out thru the rings....that would look pretty wild....:D

The only problem is that chain mail is flexible(right?). So it'd be hard to replace the side. I suppose you could cut a "Window" out of the cover, the bolt the mail over the whole cover. Then light would shine through, while maintaining rigidity. How much nosie do you suppose would be obsorbed by the chain male?

I think that would look awsome, and oh so origional!

You could make fan guards using copper wire for the mail and solder the daylights out of it while layin flat on a piece of aluminum, or even curve it by laying it on the bottom of an upturned stainless steel or aluminum bowl while soldering. Just use the brush on plummer's flux.

That's a killer idea ya got there, bud!

Flexible?, very. So I suppose you'd have to mount it to the side cover not unlike a piece of plexi for a window...

Noise?...who cares when you have an armoured 'puter!! :p

can i test it

if i were going to do it i would make it like a window leaving a small amount of side pannel for it to attach to so you can screw it on or something.

i hope you dont take it to a lan party that stuff is heavy

I was thinking anodized aluminum rings which are not too heavy and putting them over where my case already has vent holes beside my window

not covering the whole thing though that would be cool as well
