So I'm looking to have a little fun and stick a set of speakers in my old computer case (I mean hey, why not?), because I've nothing else to do with it.

I have about 5 inches clearance in length, and would like to put them on the front of the case. The case is 6.5 inches in width, so I figure the speakers can't be more than 2.5 inches a piece. I have about 5-6 inches in height, too, if that matters. Because they're going to be inside the case, I'll need the volume and such to be on the front of the speaker.

The only set small enough on Newegg didn't have the volume control on the front, which is why I'm asking here! Does anyone know of anywhere else I can find a cheap set of speakers that would fit in my case?

Because I won't be able to use the outside ports for the (presumably) USB power and audio out ports, I'm looking at this to plug in to my motherboard:

And this to plug into one of those two ports, the other to be used by the USB power.

Am I doing this totally wrong, or would those parts do what I need? :P.

Just be sure to keep your HD away from the speaker!
