hey guys, iv managed to overclock my ati radeon hd 6870 to gpu clock 1000mhz memory clock 1200mhz at stock voltage, its running very stable ( i think ) temps are low, but im wondering will this damage my computer? or reduce its life span? if so by how much / long, going to overclock my cpu when i get a new motherboard. thank you.

You will likely want another GPU before overclocking kills it. Keep the temps under 80C or so for an ATI card and all will be well.

what do you mean?? "you will likely want another GPU before overclocking kills it."??? should i set it all back to default? is my gpu going to be killed ;( cant afford another one :S

It means exactly what I said. Before it dies from your overclocking, you will want another card (as in the one you have will be too slow to play games).

Overclocking, will shorten the lifespan of any product. How much... no clue? Thats the chance you take. But if temperatures are in line I wouldnt worry about it too much.

im scared now, i really dont have enough money right now to buy a new graphics card, i might just set it right back to default, roughly how much would it shorten its lifespan? :S

Again, NO CLUE. I wouldnt be scared though. Especially if you didnt touch any voltages.

i did'nt touch any voltages, just gpu clock 1000mhz, memory clock 1200mhz. will it last me a couple of years still?

I would imagine so, yes. But like I said, we have no idea exactly. Even if I coudnt afford one I would still overclock like that. ;)
